Lead rises 0.36% in futures trade on spot demand, global cues

Lead prices edged up by 0.36 per cent to Rs 139.45 per kg in futures trade Friday as traders enlarged bets amid firm demand at the domestic spot markets and positive overseas cues. Lead to be delivered this month was trading higher by 50 paise, or 0.36 per cent Rs 139.45 per kg at the Multi Commodity Exchange. It clocked a business volume of 417 lots. The rise in lead prices at futures trade was mostly supported by rising demand from battery makers at the domestic spot markets and a firm trend in base metals overseas, analysts said.

Silver futures remain firm on global cues

Silver prices spurted Rs 187 to Rs 36,894 per kg in futures trade Friday as participants engaged in enlarging their positions, tracking a firm trend overseas. Besides, pick-up in demand at the domestic spot market from local jewellers as well as retailers too supported the upside. At the Multi Commodity Exchange, silver for delivery in November was trading higher by Rs 187, or 0.51 per cent at Rs 36,894 per kg in a business turnover of 1,043 lots. Also, silver for delivery in December gained Rs 179, or 0.49 per cent, to Rs 36,870 per kg with a bsuiness turnover of 1,143 lots. Market analysts said widening of bets by speculators in sync with a firm trend in global markets for precious metals, supported the upside in silver prices at futures trade here. In the international market, silver was up by 0.14 per cent at USD 14.39 an ounce in Singapore Friday.

Merchandise export volume expected to increase to USD 100 billion after the implementation of RCEP agreement: PHD Chamber

The trade pact will open new avenues for Indian exporters in the RCEP economies and export potential is anticipated to be realised, said Mr. Talwar. Though imports are significantly higher than the exports to RCEP nations, trade pact with RCEP would provide better market access and benefit our exports, he said. Currently our merchandise export volume is USD 61 billion which is expected to increase to USD 100 billion in very few years after the implementation of RCEP agreement, said Mr. Talwar. Besides, we have tremendous scope to boost our services exports in the RCEP member nations.

Asia markets mostly up at end of volatile week, pound struggles

Asian markets mostly rose Friday but fluctuated as investors weighed China-US trade speculation, while the pound struggled to recover from the previous day's Brexit bruising.
