Negative market breadth

Key benchmarks continued range bound trading in early afternoon trade. At 12:17 IST, the barometer index, the S&P BSE Sensex, was up 151.95 points or 0.39% at 38,846.06. The Nifty 50 index was up 40.60 points or 0.35% at 0.35. Both Sensex and Nifty pared gains after hitting fresh all-time highs in early trade.

Atlas Copco to buy cryogenics business from Brooks in $675 million deal

Jubilant FoodWorks appoints Kapil Grover as CMO for Domino's Pizza

Jubilant FoodWorks, which operates Domino's Pizza and Dunkin' Donuts chains in India, today announced the appointment of Kapil Grover as Chief Marketing Officer (CMO) of Domino's Pizza. Grover brings with him a rich experience of 18 years and will be responsible for leading the marketing strategy for the brand, Jubilant FoodWorks said in a statement. Prior to joining Jubilant FoodWorks, Grover was associated with Burger King India as CMO and has also worked with KFC India, Radico Khaitan and Luxor Writing Instruments in his past stints. At present, the company operates over 1,140 Domino's Pizza and over 35 Dunkin' Donuts outlets in India.

Quikr's realty vertical turns profitable; FY19 revenue may rise two-fold to Rs 170 cr

Online classified platform Quikr's real estate vertical has become profitable and its revenue is likely to more than double to about Rs 170 crore this fiscal driven by a series of acquisitions like HDFC Realty and CommonFloor. With 30 million monthly users, Quikr is India's largest classifieds platform with a valuation of over Rs 10,000 crore. It runs multiple vertical businesses across real estate, automobiles, education, jobs, services and goods sectors. According to sources, Quikr's revenue from real estate vertical has reached about Rs 14 crore per month in July 2018, a three-fold jump from a year-ago, despite overall slowdown in the property market. The real estate division reached profitability in March this year on the back of high margins from brokerage business and accounted for 35 per cent of the company's overall revenue during the last fiscal, they added. Chana futures rise 0.27% as demand picks up

Amid uptick in demand at domestic spot market against restricted supplies from producing belts, chana prices traded higher by 0.27 per cent to Rs 4,097 per quintal in futures trade today as participants created fresh positions. At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, chana for delivery in October rose by Rs 11, or 0.27 per cent, to Rs 4,097 per quintal with an open interest of 25,450 lots. Similarly, the commodity for delivery in September contracts was trading higher by Rs 8, or 0.20 per cent, to Rs 3,990 per quintal in 64,860 lots. Analysts attributed the rise in chana prices futures to pick up in demand in the spot markets against restricted supplies from the producing regions.

Jeera futures gain on spot demand

Jeera prices were up 0.82 per cent to Rs 19,130 per quintal in futures trading today as speculators raised their bets amid pick-up in domestic as well as exports demand at the spot market. Furthermore, tight stocks position on fall in arrivals from the growing regions also supported the upmove in prices. At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, jeera for delivery in September rose by Rs 155, or 0.82 per cent to Rs 19,130 per quintal with an open interest of 6,588 lots. On similar lines, the spice for delivery in October contracts was trading higher by Rs 130, or 0.67 per cent to Rs 19,420 per quintal in 2,388 lots. Analysts said widening of positions by participants on the back of pick-up in domestic as well as exports demand in the physical market against restricted supplies from producing regions, led to the rise in jeera prices at futures trade.

Mentha oil futures fall on profit-booking, down 0.29%

Mentha oil futures drifted lower by 0.29 per cent to Rs 1,759 per kg in futures trading today as speculators booked profits, driven by easing demand at the spot market against adequate stocks position. At the Multi Commodity Exchange, mentha oil for delivery in September fell by Rs 5.20, or 0.29 per cent, to Rs 1,759 per kg in business turnover of 196 lots. Likewise, the oil for delivery in August contracts shed Rs 2.90, or 0.17 per cent, to Rs 1,708.50 per kg in 50 lots. Analysts said besides profit-booking by participants, fall in demand from consuming industries in the physical markets against ample stocks position weighed on mentha oil futures.

Refined soya oil futures slip on negative spot leads

Refined soya oil prices slipped by 0.23 per cent to Rs 728 per 10 kg in futures market today as speculators reduced their holdings, taking negative cues from spot market on low demand. Besides, adequate stocks position on increased supplies from growing regions, too weighed on prices. At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, refined soya oil for delivery in September declined by Rs 1.65, or 0.23 per cent to Rs 728 per 10 kg with an open interest of 40,530 lots. In a similar fashion, the oil for delivery in October contracts shed 50 paise, or 0.07 per cent to Rs 724.20 per 10 kg in 13,630 lots. Analysts said cutting down of positions by participants owing to slackened demand in the physical markets against sufficient stocks position on increased arrivals from producing belts, mainly led to decline in refined soya oil prices at futures trade.
