Maruti Suzuki reports 30% rise in wholesales at 178,248 units in Dec 2024

Maruti Suzuki India Ltd on Wednesday reported 30 per cent rise in total wholesales at 1,78,248 units in December 2024 as compared to 1,37,551 units in the same month a year ago. Overall domestic sales, including that of light commercial vehicles and supplies to Toyota Kirloskar Motor, were at 1,32,523 units last month as against 1,06,492 units in December 2023, up 24.44 per cent, Maruti Suzuki India (MSI) said in a regulatory filing. Total domestic passenger vehicle (PV) sales were at 1,30,117 units in December 2024 as compared to 1,04,778 units in the same month a year ago, up 24.18 per cent, it added. Sales of mini cars comprising Alto and S-Presso were higher at 7,418 units last month as compared to 2,557 units in the year-ago period. Similarly, sales of compact cars such as Baleno, Celerio, Dzire, Ignis, Swift and WagonR were up at 54,906 units as against 45,741 units in December 2023. Hyundai Motor reports 2.4% decline in sales at 55,078 units in Dec 2024

Hyundai Motor India Ltd on Wednesday reported a 2.4 per cent decline in total sales at 55,078 units in December 2024, as compared to 56,450 units in the same month a year ago. The company, however, recorded its highest-ever yearly domestic sales of 6,05,433 units in 2024, Hyundai Motor India Ltd (HMIL) said in a statement. In December domestic sales were at 42,208 units, as compared to 42,750 units in December 2023, down 1.3 per cent, it said. Exports last month were at 12,870 units, as against 13,700 units in December 2023, down 6.1 per cent. For 2024, domestic sales were at 6,05,433 units, up marginally from 6,02,111 units in 2023, the company said. "HMIL has managed to sustain sales momentum in 2024, despite strong headwinds faced by the industry at large. Bajaj Auto reports 1% decline in total sales at 3,23,125 units in Dec 2024

Bajaj Auto on Wednesday reported a 1 per cent decline in total sales at 3,23,125 units in December 2024 compared to the same month a year ago. Bajaj Auto said in a regulatory filing that the company had sold a total of 3,26,806 units in December 2023. Total two-wheeler sales were at 2,72,173 units last month against 2,83,001 units in the year-ago period, down 4 per cent, it added. Domestic two-wheeler sales stood at 1,28,335 units compared to 1,58,370 units in the corresponding month a year ago, a decline of 19 per cent, the company said. Exports of two-wheelers were higher at 1,43,838 units last month over 1,24,631 units in December 2023, up 15 per cent. Total commercial vehicle sales were higher by 16 per cent at 50,952 units in December 2024 from 43,805 units a year ago, the company said.

Car market leader Maruti Suzuki India on Wednesday said it plans to increase its overall service network to 8,000 touchpoints by 2030-31, with an aim to reach closer to its customers. The company, which on Wednesday opened the 500th service touchpoint for its premium retail outlet NEXA, currently has 5,240 touchpoints across NEXA as well as ARENA -- the mass market retail chain. "Our aim is to consistently deliver convenience and superior car ownership experience to our customers. One way is by reaching closer to our customers so that they have assurance of finding a Maruti Suzuki service touchpoint nearby," Maruti Suzuki India MD & CEO, Hisashi Takeuchi said in a statement.
