Jamui MP and Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) chief Chirag Paswan has claimed that the Janata Dal (United) led by Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar will witness a major split in the coming months.
Union minister Nityanand Rai on Saturday rejected Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar's charge that former Lok Janshakti Party president Chirag Paswan had worked as a BJP agent in the assembly polls nearly three years ago. Rai alleged that Paswan, whom we never wanted to quit the NDA had parted ways because of the arrogance of Kumar, the JD(U)'s supreme leader, whom he also charged with having lost touch with public sentiment. It is false to say that we wanted to weaken Nitish Kumar in the 2020 assembly polls. His party fared much worse than the BJP because he has lost touch with public sentiment. His arrogance had become a big problem and it was the only reason why Chirag Paswan had to break apart, claimed Rai, a former Bihar BJP president. Paswan had fielded LJP candidates, many of them BJP rebels, in all seats contested by the JD(U) which finished with a tally of 43, a steep decline since 2015 when it had won 71 seats. Though BJP chose to stick to its alliance with Kumar, Paswan .
Former Lok Janshakti Party president Chirag Paswan on Sunday charged his uncle and Union minister Pashupati Kumar Paras with tarnishing the image of the NDA by questioning his entry into the BJP-led coalition. Talking to reporters here late in the evening, Chirag reminded his uncle of the welcome accorded to him by Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the recent NDA meeting in Delhi. It is bewildering to hear him making such statements barely a few days after I was hugged by the PM in front of all. Such utterances give a bad name to the coalition, said Chirag, who is engaged in a tussle with his uncle to claim the legacy of his late father Ram Vilas Paswan. The prime minister had been a pillar of support when I was going through a hard phase following the death of my father. This is the reason why I never spoke against him even during the period I was not formally a part of the NDA," said Chirag whose party was split by Paras two years ago. He also said, It was because of the beautiful
Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) leader Chirag Paswan said on Tuesday that his party has joined the NDA following a positive discussion with the BJP over his "concerns" and asserted the ruling combine will win all 40 seats in Bihar in the 2024 Lok Sabha polls. While declining to share details of his talks with BJP leaders, including Home Minister Amit Shah and party president J P Nadda, he asserted that his concerns have been addressed positively by them. He, however, made it clear that his party will contest from Hajipur, a Lok Sabha seat currently represented by his estranged uncle and Union minister Pashupati Kumar Paras. His party will fight as part of the BJP-led NDA in the 2025 Bihar assembly polls as well. Paswan had earlier indicated that he expected the BJP to stick to the same seat-sharing arrangement as in 2019 when the undivided LJP had contested on six Lok Sabha seats and was given a Rajya Sabha seat as well.
Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) leader Chirag Paswan has decided to return to the NDA, BJP chief J P Nadda announced on Monday, hours after Paswan met Union Home Minister Amit Shah, a day before the crucial meeting of the ruling coalition. "I met Chirag Paswanji in Delhi. He has decided to join the NDA alliance under Prime Minister Narendra Modi's leadership. I welcome him to the NDA family," Nadda said on Twitter and posted photographs of his meeting with Paswan. Paswan had been in talks with the BJP for finalising his party's share of Lok Sabha seats in Bihar for 2024 and the meeting is being seen as part of that exercise. "Had a positive discussion with the country's Home Minister respected Shri Amit Shah in New Delhi on issues related to the alliance," Paswan said in a tweet after meeting Shah. Later, Shah said in a tweet that he and Paswan had an extensive discussion about Bihar politics. Union minister Nityanand Rai, a senior BJP leader from Bihar, had earlier met Paswan ...

Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) MP Chirag Paswan on Wednesday welcomed the Budget presented by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, and said it has taken care of every section of the society. In an exclusive video interview to PTI, the Lok Sabha MP said the government has ensured that the "economic structure" of the country remains "strong and stable", while giving relaxation to those who need it. "I welcome the budget. Given the conditions that not only our country but the world has faced during COVID-19, I really welcome the Budget that the central government has presented," Paswan said. "On one hand the government is making sure that the economic structure of the country remains stable and strong, yet at the same time giving relaxation to the ones who need," he said. Paswan said the government has taken care of every section of society in the Budget. "The kind of rebates that have been given to taxpayers in personal tax, from Rs 5 lakh to Rs 7 lakh... and even after that the sl
Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) president and Lok Sabha MP Chirag Paswan met Home Minister Amit Shah on Tuesday and sought dismissal of the Bihar government, alleging that the rule of law has collapsed in the state. Paswan submitted his party's memorandum to Shah in which he alleged that liquor mafia is flourishing in Bihar under the official patronage, with people in large numbers dying by consuming spurious alcoholic drinks in the state where prohibition is in place. "It will not be wrong to say that the rule of law has ended in Bihar," he said. He shared the letter submitted to Shah on Twitter. Land and mining mafia are getting protection from the state government, he alleged, adding that criminals are ruling the roost. President's rule should be imposed in the state, Paswan, a strong critic of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, said. Paswan had walked out of the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) before the state assembly polls in 2020 due to his opposition to Kumar. With K
Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) leader Chirag Paswan on Friday raised in Lok Sabha the issue of alleged rise in crimes, especially against Dalits, in Bihar and said Parliament can't be mum when the state government is maintaining "silence". The Jamui MP noted that a woman and her five-year-old daughter were burnt alive in Arwal after their house was set ablaze by people accused by the mother of trying to sexually assault her. Raising the issue during the Zero Hour, Paswan said the culprits were angry with her, a member of the Paswan community, for complaining to police and alleged that the local administration was hand in glove with them. He said a Paswan woman was gang-raped and killed in Begusarai as he hit out at the state government for its "silence". While acknowledging that law and order is a state subject, he said the Centre should act on its own and order a CBI probe as the people of Bihar are angry at the JD(U)-RJD-Congress government's alleged lack of action. Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar's reference to Ram Vilas Paswan's "second marriage in Delhi" evoked an angry outbust from the late leader's son and political heir Chirag Paswan on Tuesday. Kumar had muttered "biyahwa to dusra Dilli mein jaakar kiye the na" (married for the second time in Delhi) on the previous day in a sort of reflection on the Bihari roots of the father-son duo. He had also called Chirag a "bachcha" (kid). "It ill behoves the chief minister to make personal remarks about my father after his death," the young Jamui MP, born to his late father's second wife, said. "I have never stooped to this level. I have never spoken anything of the kind about Nitish Kumar who has not been transparent about his own personal life. My deceased father was like an open book," said Chirag who has been reaching out to his step-mother and step-sisters after being cornered by his uncle Pashupati Kumar Paras. Bihar BJP president Sanjay Jaiswal on Friday asserted that Chirag Paswan is an "NDA ally" and he will be campaigning for saffron party candidates for the November 3 by-polls to Mokama and Gopalganj assembly seats in the state. Jaiswal made the averment at a press conference he addressed here and claimed that Paswan, who is a Lok Sabha member from Jamui, will canvass for BJP candidates next week. "We treat all parties that have fought elections in alliance with us and supported us in the Presidential polls as NDA partners. Chirag Paswan very much fits the bill and he will be campaigning on October 31 and November 1," the BJP leader said. The son of Dalit stalwart Ram Vilas Paswan, Chirag Paswan headed the Lok Janshakti Party founded by his father till it came apart last year following a rebellion by uncle Pashupati Kumar Paras who rallied along all other LJP MPs. Chirag Paswan had caused a flutter in the 2020 assembly polls when he rebelled against Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, who w
