Delhi Police summons Air India staff in case of man peeing on co-passenger

Delhi Police has summoned Air India staff in connection with an incident in which a man allegedly urinated on a co-passenger onboard a flight from New York to Delhi, sources said. The Air India staff, including the pilot and co-pilot, were issued summons for Friday, but they didn't appear. Now, they have been summoned to the office of deputy commissioner of police (airport) at 10:30 am on January 7, the sources said on Friday. Police on Wednesday registered an FIR and formed several teams to nab the accused passenger. The accused, Shankar Mishra, had urinated on his co-passenger, a senior citizen in her 70s, allegedly in an inebriated condition in the business class of the Air India flight on November 26 last year. Mishra is the vice president of the India Chapter of an American multinational financial services company headquartered in California. Over 300 challan issued for drunk driving on New Year's Eve: Delhi Police

Delhi Police issued over 300 challans for drunk driving in the national capital on New Year's Eve, an increase of over 12 times compared to the previous year, officials said on Sunday. According to the official data shared by police, a total of 1,329 challans were issued for committing various traffic violations. Of the total, 318 people were fined for drunk driving, 175 for dangerous driving, 55 for driving on the wrong side, 47 for triple riding, 70 for minor driving, and 664 for driving without a helmet, while 53 vehicles were impounded on the spot, it said. Traffic police deployed 114 teams, armed with breath analyzers, to check drunk driving on Saturday, they said. Delhi Police identifies 125 hotspots drink-driving ahead of New Year's eve

Delhi Police has identified 125 spots prone to drink-driving as part of efforts to keep a vigil on revellers on New Year's eve on Saturday and deploy nearly 1,900 traffic personnel to identify violators, an official said. Alcometers will be used to issue challans to violators, the police said. Special Commissioner of Police (Traffic) SS Yadav said, "Around 1,850 personnel from Traffic Police will be deployed along with local police staff for joint checking for which the points have been identified. "We have identified around 125 points of drink-and-drive where the teams will be deployed." There are around 45 major spots across the national capital where New Year celebrations take place. There will be focus on these spots, the police said. Of the 657 challans issued on New Year's eve last year, 36 were related to drink-driving, they said. Delhi Police to issue advisory once Bharat Jodo Yatra's route finalised

The Delhi Police on Thursday said a traffic advisory in connection with the Bharat Jodo Yatra will be issued once its route is finalised. The Rahul Gandhi-led yatra will reach Delhi on Saturday at 6 am on its 108th day. A senior police officer said once the route gets finalised, the advisory will be issued accordingly. The march will enter the national capital from the Badarpur border and conclude at Lal Quila after covering a distance of 23 kilometres via Ashram Chowk. It entered Haryana from Rajasthan on Wednesday. A mass contact initiative of the Congress, the yatra began from Kanyakumari on September 7 and has covered Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Telangana, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan till now. Delhi Police questions Flipkart officials for selling acid despite SC ban

Delhi Police has questioned the officials of e-commerce firm Flipkart for allegedly selling acid on its platform despite a ban on the substance by the Supreme Court. Police on December 15 issued a notice to Flipkart after the prime accused in an acid attack on a girl in Dwarka, Delhi said he bought the substance from the e-commerce website. According to the police, the officials were questioned on Wednesday and they are not satisfied with the reply of the firm. The company had responded to the notice, saying that the acid was sold by an Agra-based firm. Police said whether they will be questioned again will be decided later. The Delhi Police on Wednesday destroyed over 2,800 kgs of drugs worth Rs 1,513.05 crore seized under a campaign in the last eight years, officials said. Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena, Delhi Police Commissioner Sanjay Arora and members of the disposal committees were present when the drugs were destroyed in an incinerator in Delhi's Nilothi, they said. The police said effective action is being taken against traffickers under the Centre's 'Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan' to eradicate the drug menace from Delhi-NCR. According to an official statement, Saxena expressed satisfaction over the efforts being undertaken by Delhi Police to curb the drug menace in the capital. A meeting was held on Saturday by the Delhi Urban Shelter Improvement Board (DUSIB) to chalk out a plan to remove and relocate beggars from the Hanuman Mandir area near the Kashmere Gate ISBT to night shelters, officials said. In view of the upcoming G20 Summit, the Delhi government issued directions on Thursday to remove and relocate the beggars from the Hanuman Mandir area. The Delhi Police and Central Bureau of Investigations have helped the FBI in busting a major trans-national scam that duped thousands of Americans, mostly senior citizens, of millions of dollars in about 10 years on the pretext of providing them with tech-support, a US attorney has said. Harshad Madaan, 34, from New Delhi and Vikash Gupta, 33, from Faridabad, were arrested by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and the Delhi Police this week.
