Digvijaya Singh

Digvijaya Singh is a Member of Parliament in the Rajya Sabha. In the past, Singh has served as the chief minister of Madhya Pradesh for two terms from 1993 to 2003. He was also a minister in Chief Minister Arjun Singh's cabinet between 1980–84.
 
Having lost the assembly elections of 2003, Digvijay had taken an oath that he will not take part in any election for a period of 10 years. He instead shifted his attention to working for the party from the centre, getting involved in the party's organisation across several states.
 
In 2013, when Singh did offer to contest the Lok Sabha elections, he wasn't given a ticket even though a Rajya Sabha seat from Madhya Pradesh came his wa in 2014.
 
Singh was visibly missing from Congress' campaign before the 2018 Assembly elections, because of the BJP's constant attacks on his ten-year rule. “I do not campaign during the elections because it could hurt the party,” Singh has been quoted as saying. In 2017, as the Congress’s Goa in-charge, Singh failed to ensure the government's formation despite the party emerging as the largest party.
 
In 2018, Rahul Gandhi removed him as the AICC general secretary and withdrew his charge of Andhra Pradesh. In a way, Singh has been pushed to the fringes in the last few years. But can and will he make a comeback?
