More than 40 killed in bus accident in Zimbabwe

Police in Zimbabwe say more than 40 people have been killed in a bus accident. Police spokeswoman Charity Charamba says at least 20 more were injured, some with severe burns, in the accident on Thursday night. Charamba says she does not have details about the cause of the accident. Photos posted on Twitter by the Zimbabwe Red Cross show the remains of a bus that was completely incinerated. Cyclone 'Gaja' claims 11 lives in TN, says CM

Severe cyclonic storm 'Gaja', which crossed Tamil Nadu's coast early Friday, has claimed 11 lives, Chief Minister K Palaniswami said. 'Gaja' crossed the coast between Nagapattinam and nearby Vedaranyam, bringing with it heavy rain, and causing severe damage to communication and power infrastructure, mainly in Nagapattinam district. Speaking to reporters at Salem, Palaniswami said relief work will be taken up on a war-footing and that the work was already underway. "The government has received information that so far 11 persons have died," he said without divulging further information. He said the families of the deceased will be provided a solatium of Rs 10 lakh each from the Chief Minister's Public Relief Fund (CMPRF). Those with severe injuries will be provided with Rs one lakh each while people who had sustained simple injuries will get Rs 25,000 as relief, he added. Lion Air crash: Victim's family sues Boeing over faulty aircraft design

The family of Rio Nanda Putrama, who is feared to have been killed in the Lion Air Flight 610 crash last month, has filed a lawsuit against Boeing for its "faulty and unsafe design".The lawsuit filed on Thursday stresses upon a new safety feature which can cause the 737 Max 8 aircraft to "auto-dive" in certain situations. Rain lashed coastal regions of Tamil Nadu and Puducherry as the severe cyclonic storm 'Gaja' crossed the state's coast between Nagapattinam and nearby Vedaranniyam early Friday with wind speed gusting up to 120 kmph. As the cyclone's landfall began, coastal towns including Cuddalore, Nagapattinam, Thondi and Pamban in Tamil Nadu and Karaikkal and Puducherry received rainfall ranging between 3 cm and 8 cm. Elephant electrocuted to death in Odisha

An elephant was electrocuted to death after coming in contact with a high tension electric wire in Mayurbhanj's Sansarasposi village in Chandua block.On Thursday night, the elephant, while moving, accidentally touched the 11kv electric line which resulted in its death.Villagers have claimed that the electric wire is hanging from a height of just 6 feet from the ground level. Cyclone Gaja: Strong winds, rainfall hit Nagapattinam

The car was moving at an extremely high speed and in a matter of seconds we were all mowed down by it, recalled Ricky Jha, one of the survivors of the accident in outer Delhi which claimed the life of a teenager and left eight others injured. A 16-year-old girl died and eight people were injured on Wednesday after the driver of an SUV lost control over its wheels and rammed it into several other vehicles near Meera Bagh Traffic Signal in outer Delhi.
