The 40-feet breach has developed in the embankment of Sason canal in Khejurbandh under the Kilasama Gram Panchayat in the district, officials said adding crops were submerged particylarly in Balbaspur and Kilasama. According to the villagers, the embankment of the canal in the Hirakud dam circle gave way in the early hours today. Three persons from Cine Vista film studio have been booked for causing death by negligence in connection with the fire that broke out in the studio premises last month, a senior police official said today. Based on the report submitted by the fire brigade, an FIR was registered against two co-owners and a manager of the studio at Park site police station yesterday, he said. They have been booked under section 304A (causing death by negligence) and other relevant sections of the IPC, the official said, adding that no arrest had been made so far. A 20-year-old television production unit employee, Gopi Verma, had died in the fire that broke out at the studio in suburban Kanjurmarg at around 8pm on January 6. His body was found in the burnt debris a day after the fire.

Two people were killed and 30 others injured in two separate road accidents in Doda and Samba districts of Jammu and Kashmir today, a police official said. Two people were killed and two others injured when their car skidded off the road and fell into a 150-feet deep gorge near Bhaderwah in Doda district, he said. The car was on its way to Bhalara when it met with the accident, he said. The injured were rushed to a nearby hospital, where their condition was stated to be critical. In separate incident, 28 people were injured when their bus turned turtle after colliding with a truck on Jammu-Punjab National Highway, the official said. The bus, coming from Punjab, turned turtle after it collided with a truck which it was trying to overtake at Jatwal village in Samba district, he said.
