A fire broke out in a commercial complex in suburban Goregaon this morning, civic officials said. The blaze erupted at Cama Estate around 8 am, an official of the Disaster Control Cell of Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) said. The fire brigade personnel rushed to the spot and the firefighting operation was launched with the help of seven water tankers and eight fire engines, he said. No casualty has been reported in the incident so far, the official said adding that the cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained.
Three people were killed in a collision between a car and motorcycle at Narendra Mohan Setu in Uttar Pradesh's Kanpur on Saturday.The accident took place near Swaroop Nagar police station area.The car was registered in the name of Sunil Kumar Tiwari, a resident of Arya Nagar. The person riding the motorcycle was from Kakadeo Shastri Nagar police station area.The police is identifying the deceased people.

At least 13 persons were killed as a minibus carrying 17 passengers fell into Panchganga river at Kolhapur in western Maharashtra, police said today. The incident took place at around 11.45 pm yesterday when the vehicle carrying three families was returning from Ganpatipule, a picnic destination of coastal Konkan, an official said. The deceased include three men, three women and seven children, including a nine month baby, he said. The speeding minibus was on the Shivaji Bridge of Panchganga river when its driver lost control of the vehicle. The bus later fell into the river, the official said. Police and fire brigade rushed to the spot as an onlooker alerted the Kolhapur police about the incident. Rescue and search operations were launched immediately, he said. The rescue teams managed to trace 16 passengers of the ill-fated bus, wherein 13 had died. Three persons are admitted to a hospital for treatment, the official said. Four persons including two children were killed when a truck ran them over at Titagarh in North 24 Parganas district early today, the police said. The accident occurred at around 2.30 am in front of a house where a wedding had been organised yesterday night. The victims, all male, were standing before the house on Barrackpore Trunk Road when they came under the wheels of the speeding truck. The driver of the truck is absconding.

There is no move to close down or relocate the southern campus of theNational Institute of Disaster Management (NIDM) located inVijayawada, a senior Home Ministry official said. The clarification comes in the wake of speculations that the southern campus of the NIDM in Andhra Pradesh may be shut down by the government. The NIDM at Vijayawada has been functioning without any disruption and there are no plans to close down or relocate the institute, the official said on condition of anonymity. On the contrary, the official said, a national-level training programme on psycho-social care in disaster will be held at NIDM, Vijayawada from February 5 to 9 besides a training programme on coastal community resilience from February 7 to 9. The construction of the permanent building of the NIDM, Vijayawada will also start soon, the official said. Four persons, including three of a family, were today killed when a jeep in which they were travelling fell into Yamuna river on Yamunotri road near Chami in the district, police said. The victims, all hailing from Dehradun, were going towards Vikasnagar when the accident took place, Station House Officer (SHO) Damta, Rajesh Dhyani said. The pilot of a paraglider was killed and its passenger injured today when it crashed in Rajasthan's Nagaur, police said. The paraglider, which belonged to a private company, had lifted off from an airstrip and was to land back on it. But the pilot lost control and crashed it on a tree near a house, Circle Officer, Nagaur, Omprakash Gautam, said. The spot of the accident was in a residential colony, around 2 km away from the airstrip, he said. Pilot Manav, in his 30s, and another man Gaurav Bhati (27), a local, who was on the flight, received critical injuries, the officer said. They were rushed to the district hospital where the pilot succumbed to injuries. Bhati was referred to a hospital in Jodhpur, he said. The paragliding activity was going on in the city during Ramdev Cattle Fair, Gautam said.
Ukrainian officials say four people have died in a helicopter crash. The Interior Ministry said today that the Mi-8 helicopter on a training mission crashed after hitting a cable supporting a TV tower. All four crew members on board died during the crash that occurred late last night near the city of Kremenchuk in central Ukraine. The ministry said the helicopter belonged to a training center. The Mi-8 is a twin-engine Soviet built helicopter used widely by many operators worldwide since the 1960s.
At least six people were killed on Friday when a truck overturned on two cars at Fatehabad police station area.The accident happened on Friday morning near Khander village when a vegetable-laden truck lost control and overturned on two cars going towards Agra.The six passengers died on the spot and rest of the injured were rushed to a nearby private hospital.A deceased has been identified as Manoj Kumar of Porsa in Madhya Pradesh.
