Food regulator FSSAI has urged the states and Union territories to advise their school education boards to use the 'Yellow Book', aimed at children detailing how to eat right, in school curriculum. The book was brought out by the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) in September last year, and has been launched in three categories for children in the age group of 4-7 years, 8-12 years and 13-17 years. It covers a range of topics -- from food safety practices, personal hygiene and cleanliness habits and eating a balanced diet, to packing a wholesome lunch-box. It also lays emphasis on preventing nutritional deficiencies and making healthy choices. The book includes useful tips and interesting activities for school children. At least six people, including four women, were killed and 12 injured after a mini pick-up truck collided head-on with a tractor in Mathura's Surir town on Monday.The accident took place when the driver of the truck, carrying all the victims, lost control of the vehicle and collided head-on with the tractor coming from the opposite direction on a single-lane road yesterday evening.According to police, the victims, residents of Vidyapur village of Hathras district, were returning from the funeral prayers of a relative when the mishap took place near the Heaton Clinic on the Raya-Nawazil route.The tractor driver has been detained by the Surir Police.The bodies have been sent for the post mortem.
A Public Interest Litigation (PIL) has been filed by former Mumbai Police Commissioner Julio Ribeiro in the Bombay High Court demanding setting up a judicial commission of enquiry in connection with the Kamala Mills fire incident.A massive fire had broken out at the Kamla Mills compound in the Lower Parel locality of Mumbai in the wee hours of December 29, killing 14 people and injuring 12.In an enquiry report submitted to the Municipal Commissioner by the Enquiry Committee, it was stated the fire started from the Mojo's Bistro and not from '1 Above' as believed earlier.The report also stated that there were several violations of fire safety norms by both Mojo's Bistro and 1 Above.

At least 14 persons have been injured in a fire at an apartment building in Manhattan in New York City.The blaze is believed to have started by a toaster in the kitchen of a second-floor apartment of the six-storey building on Riverside Drive in Washington Heights, the local media reported citing, Fire Department of the City of New York (FDNY) Commissioner, Daniel Nigro, as saying.The fire then quickly spread to the top floors through a dumbwaiter shaft.It took over 200 firefighters to knock out a massive fire.The firefighters had a difficulty knocking out the fire in very cold conditions, according to Nigro.Red Cross teams were reportedly present at the scene, registering dozens of affected residents.Authorities advised nearby residents to close windows and avoid smoke.The building is almost a century-old and houses 133 apartments, according to reports.

At least 10 people died in Delhi due to dengue last year, a municipal report has said, updating an earlier death toll of four.
