Online registration process for admissions will be glitch-free: DU

The Delhi University administration is making all efforts to avoid any technical glitches during the online registration process for admission to various courses in its affiliated colleges, beginning tomorrow. Last year, technical glitches in the online portal surfaced right from day one of the admission process. The website's server went down and many aspirants failed to access the portal. "We have opened all tabs and ensuring zero technical glitches," Officer on Special Duty (Admission) Ashutosh Bharadwaj said. While the registration for undergraduate programmes will commence tomorrow from 6 pm onwards, postgraduate programmes and postgraduate diploma in cyber security and law registrations will begin on May 18. Registration for Ph.D and M.Phil programmes will begin on May 20. Gurgaon students top ICSE, ISC exams in Delhi-NCR

Gurgaon students Jivansh Kakkar and Manavi Kapoor topped the ICSE class 10 examinations while Antra Kapoor bagged the top position in the class 12 exams, the results of which were declared today. The top scorers in the class 10 exams, both from The Shri Ram School in Gurgaon, scored 98.80 per cent. The second position was bagged by Nishka Arora (98.40 per cent) from the same school. The third position was shared by Shreya Singhal, Ayesha Dhall and Kabir Oberio from The Shri Ram School, Dintyala Rahul Bhardwaj from Golden Heights School in Gurgaon and Prashati Sarraf from Sophia Girl's School in Meerut Cantonment. They have all scored 98.20 per cent. Similarly in the class 12 examinations, the top scorer from The Shri Ram School bagged 99.25 per cent. The second position was shared by Tanushree Pendharkar and Sanjana Hira, both from the same school. They both scored 99 per cent. No moderation or spiking of marks in this year's result: CICSE

The Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE), which declared the class 10 and 12 results today, did not follow any moderation policy this year, a top board official said. "We did not follow any moderation policy. Also, there was no spiking of marks. Despite that the number of students scoring above 99 per cent has increased this year," Gerry Arathoon, the CEO of the Council, told reporters. "Last year also, we had waited for the Delhi High Court order and then for CBSE's stand on the issue as the in-principle decision to scrap moderation policy was taken unanimously by 32 boards," he added. The Council for the Indian School Certificate Examination (CISCE) today declared results for the Class 12 and Class 10 exams with girls once again bettering boys in overall scores and 64 students getting more than 99 per cent. While 49 students got more than 99 per cent in the Class 12 exam, 15 students scored more than 99 per cent in the Class 10 exam. In Class 12, the top score was 99.5 per cent, bagged by seven students from across the country. The second position of 99.25 per cent was shared by 17 students. The result for Madhya Pradesh board exams for Class 10 and Class 12 has been declared.68.54 percent students passed the Class 12 exams, while 66 percent of students passed the Class 10 exams.The results were declared on the official website of the Madhya Pradesh Board of Secondary Education (MPBSE Board).The Board conducted the Class 10 and Class 12 exams for academic session 2017-18 in the month of March-April 2018.

AIIMS Bhopal: Duo on protest march seeking full-time director

Two medical students of the premier AIIMS Bhopal, who embarked on a foot march on May 3 to protest against the institute functioning without a director since 2015, have covered 300 kilometres and have reached Shivpuri district in the state, they told PTI today. Sant Guru Prasad, former president of the AIIMS Students Union, Bhopal and fellow medical student Chandan Aryan plan to walk all the way till New Delhi to force the Union Health and Family Welfare Ministry to appoint a full-time director as well as fill up other vacancies. Prasad told PTI that he and Aryan plan to reach Delhi by the end of this month or the first week of June. "AIIMS Bhopal does not have a permanent director since 2015. Female candidates' sleeves snipped off before exam in Bihar

Female candidates appearing for Paramedical exam in Bihar's Muzaffarpur district were left in shock, when the sleeves of their clothes were torn off, before the exam.The invigilator snipped off the sleeves of the girls before letting them enter into the examination hall for giving the paper.Talking to ANI, one of the officers said that a notice was circulated earlier about the disciplinary measure to be followed during the exam, which included the type of cloth to carry.Where the girls claimed that the sleeves of their clothes were snipped off forcefully, the Muzaffarpur District Education Office claimed that the girls willingly did it."The guidelines were circulated earlier, but they did not follow it. AMU students meet district officials to end campus logjam

Leaders of the Aligarh Muslim University Students Union (AMUSU) held a meeting with senior district officials today over the ongoing two-week-long protests on the campus. AMU sources confirmed that the leaders of the AMUSU met senior district officials in a bid to end the logjam on the campus. BJP MP Satish Kumar Gautam, who triggered a row when he demanded that a portrait of Muhammad Ali Jinnah be removed from Aligarh Muslim University, has criticised former vice president Hamid Ansari for supporting students over the issue. The Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE) today declared the results for Classes 10 and 12, with girls once again outshining boys. Class 10 results recorded a pass percentage of 98.5 per cent, while 96.21 per cent of the students passed Class 12 exam, said Gerry Arathoon, CEO of the Council. Mumbai's Swayam Das was the Class 10 all-India topper with a score 99.4 per cent. Seven students have topped the Class 12 exam with an identical score of 99.5 per cent, he said.

TNAU counselling to go online from this year

Counselling for under-graduate courses in agriculture and science and technology offered by Tamil Nadu Agricultural University (TNAU) will go online from this academic year. Of the 3,422 seats, being offered by TNAU, its 14 constituent colleges and 26 affiliated privates colleges across the State, 65 per cent will be filled through state quota, TNAU Vice-Chancellor, Dr K Ramasamy told reporters here today. The rest of the seats would be filled by colleges from the list of students who apply online on the TNAU portal, he added. The university had been receiving application online for the past four years, he said adding from this year counselling would go online. This would be beneficial for students, as they would not need to come here from various parts of the state to participate in the counselling process, the vice-chancellor added. The online application process will begin from May 18 and go on till June 17 and verification of documents for special reservation will .

Standard of education in TN improved after vacancies filled:CM

AMU alumni brave rough weather to protest against attack on varsity

Braving the dust storm and rain that hit the national capital today, the alumni of Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) gathered here in the evening to protest the attack on the students of the institute, allegedly by members of the right-wing Hindu Yuva Vahini group.
