4 actresses resign from AMMA post Dileep's reinstatement

Four female leading actresses have resigned from the Association of Malayalam Movie Artists (AMMA), after reinstatement of sexual assault accused actor Dileep in the association.Dileep has been accused of hatching a plot with prime accused Pulsar Suni and his associates for abducting and assaulting the Malayalam actress in a moving car.The actress, who has worked in Malayalam, Tamil and Telugu films, was kidnapped and molested in a moving car while she was on her way from Thrissur to Kochi on the night of February 17 this year.Dileep was arrested on July 10 because of his alleged involvement in the molestation case.On July 11, he was expelled from the primary membership of the Association of Malayalam Movie Artists (AMMA) after being arrested.

Robert Pattinson to be honoured at Karlovy Vary festival

British actor Robert Pattinson is all set to be conferred with the President's (Czech Republic) Award at the 53rd edition of the Karlovy Vary film festival.According to the Hollywood Reporter, the 'Twilight' star will be in the Czech spa town from which the festival derives its name, and will receive the prestigious President's award at the closing-night gala of the film festival.The prestigious award is given to "outstanding personalities of world cinema".Pattinson is famous for his major roles in the 'Twilight' franchise and 'Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire'.On the work front, he will next be seen in a comedy film 'Damsel' where he is portraying the role of Samuel Alabaster, a wealthy businessman who crosses the American West in 1870 to marry his love but finds treachery when the lines between hero, villain and the damsel are blurred.The 53rd edition of the Karlovy Vary Film Festival will be held from June 29 to July 7.

'Sanju' lands in soup: Complaint against Ranbir, Anushka

Britain's Prince William took a stroll along one of Tel Aviv's hippest boulevards today with the flamboyant Israeli winner of the Eurovision Song Contest. NCW gets complaint against movie Sanju for 'demeaning' sex workers

The National Commission for Women today received a complaint against the movie Sanju for allegedly making derogatory remarks against sex workers in the film, the Commission chairperson said today. The complaint, filed just two days before its release, against the film has alleged that actors Ranbir Kapoor, Anushka Sharma and director Rajkumar Hirani used derogatory language against sex workers. "We have received such a complaint and we are forwarding it to the Electronic Media Monitoring Centre to take necessary action," said NCW Chairperson Rekha Sharma. The EMMC under the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting has been tasked to monitor the content of television channels and report on violations of the programme and advertising code. The complaint filed by advocate and social activist Gaurav Gulati was referred to two dialogues where Kapoor allegedly "demeans the status of sex workers in the society.

Activist Gogineni booked for "hurting" religious sentiments

A case has been registered against human rights activist and rationalist Babu Gogineni for allegedly hurting religious sentiments and also on charge of sedition and other charges, police said today. He was booked under various IPC sections including 121 (waging, or attempting to wage war) and 124-A (sedition), based on the direction of a local court with regard to a private complaint filed before it. The case was registered on June 25 and it is under investigation, police said. "Gogineni is a contestant in a reality show (Big Boss)," Madhapur Police Station Additional Inspector P Yadaiah Goud said. The complainant, who is a city-based citizen, has accused Gogineni of hurting religious sentiments through his speeches.
