Sandra Bullock says she considered leaving Hollywood because of sexism

"Ocean's 8" star Sandra Bullock has revealed that she contemplated leaving Hollywood due to the sexism she faced in the industry. In an interview with USA Today, the 53-year-old actor said her mother raised her as an independent person and as someone who is not inferior to anyone. "My career has been a domino effect of people who said, 'I would like this person to fill this role.' And not just in the industry, but people in my life. My mother raised me like, 'You don't need to get married, you forge your own path. You make your own money, and be your own person.' And I literally went out into the world thinking there was no disparity, that everyone was equal, and I can do whatever a man can do," Bullock said. The Oscar-winning actor said she had a "wake-up moment" when she entered the industry as she became aware of the dual-standards and sexism that persisted in Hollywood. "I was like, 'What is this feeling? Why do I feel so (expletive)?' 'Oh my God, I'm being treated this way ...

Action should look genuine and not make people laugh: Salman Khan

He is back in his shirtless, action-star avatar with "Race 3" but Salman Khan says the stakes are higher this time as they have tried to keep the stunts realistic yet high octane. "It's tricky (to get the action right). Sometimes, you go overboard and when you go realistic, they (audience) prefer the earlier films' action... So we needed to be careful. "Action has to look genuine, believable. It can't look farcical and we can't make you laugh. Physically also, it's a lot of strain and hard work. If you don't look the part, physically and end up doing unbelievable action, then people laugh at you," Salman said in a group interview here. The 52-year-old actor said it is easy to use special effects for action sequences but they decided against it as they wanted them to be believable, even when they were blowing up expensive cars. "Tom Struthers is the guys who had done action for 'Tiger Zinda Hai' but he's also done action for Christopher Nolan films like 'Dunkirk' and the 'Batman' ...

10 years of 'Aamir': A film which travelled from jewellers to theatres

The first film of a director without film industry connections can be quite a challenge and Raj Kumar Gupta faced this while trying to get his debut "Aamir" financed. Released a decade ago on June 6, "Aamir" chronicled the story of a young Muslim man, Dr Aamir Ali, played by Rajeev Khandelwal, who returns to Mumbai from the United Kingdom and finds himself at the mercy of extremists intending to carry out a bombing in the city. The film garnered rave reviews and a strong word-of-mouth. In an interview with PTI, Gupta talks about how a film with several first timers--director, music composer Amit Trivedi, cinematographer Alphonse Roy and even producer-- was put together. "I recall narrating the script to a jeweller in Zaveri Bazaar, in the hope that somebody would finance the film. That is one incident which I remember clearly. Then there was a merchant who I had approached. "At that point, you are just hoping that somewhere people exist who wanted to make a film but never got the ...

Dylan Farrow slams Woody Allen for calling himself 'poster boy for #MeToo'

Woody Allen's estranged adopted daughter Dylan Farrow has blasted the veteran filmmaker for dubbing himself the "poster boy for the #MeToo movement". In a new interview with Argentinian news outlet Periodismo Para Todos, the director, who was accused in 2014 by Farrow of sexual abuse, said he is a "big advocate" of the campaign as it brings abusers in Hollywood to justice. Farrow put out a statement on Twitter where she rubbished Allen's comments as a desperate measure to "salvage his faltering career". "All Woody Allen's recent antics demonstrate his desperation to salvage a now faltering career. His true feelings on (Harvey) Weinstein and the #MeToo movement were made evident in his initial reaction and defense," she wrote. Farrow added the recent remarks were a part of a course correction suggested by the director's public relations team. "Everything he says now is nothing more than a PR strategy in an attempt to undermine the credibility of the allegations against him. We are all .

Bill Clinton says 'Today' interview wasn't his 'finest hour'

Former President Bill Clinton is acknowledging that his combative response earlier this week to questions about Monica Lewinsky wasn't his "finest hour." Still, Clinton says, "It was very painful thing that happened 20 years ago," adding that he had to "live with the consequences every day since." In an interview with NBC's "Today" released Monday, Clinton bristled at questions over whether he should have resigned 20 years ago because of his sexual relationship with the White House intern. Clinton was asked yesterday by the host of CBS' "Late Show," Stephen Colbert, if he realized why some people thought his response was "tone-deaf" in light of the MeToo movement. The ex-president responded, "It wasn't my finest hour," adding, "I was mad at me not for the first time.
