Make way for 'Sherlock Holmes 3'

It's official! A third 'Sherlock Holmes' is happening and will release in theatres on Christmas 2020.Robert Downey Jr. and Jude Law are back on board to reprise their roles as the iconic British detective Sherlock Holmes and the famous sidekick Dr. John Watson respectively, as reported by The Hollywood Reporter.'Narcos' co-creator Chris Brancato is credited as screenwriter with Joel Silver, Susan Downey and Lionel Wigram returning as producers.'Sherlock Holmes 3' will hit the big screens nine years after the second installment 'Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows' released in December 2011.

Katherine Waterston to star in 'Amundsen'

"Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them" star Katherine Waterston has come aboard the cast of Arctic explorer Roald Amundsen's biopic "Amundsen". The 38-year-old actor, known for films such as Paul Thomas Anderson's "Inherent Vice" and Ridley Scott's "Alien: Covenant", will play the role of Bess Magdis, Amundsen's last love, reported Variety. The film will be directed by Espen Sandberg and he will reunite with his "Kon-Tiki" star Pal Sverre Hagen, who will be portraying the titular character. Actor Christian Rubeck will play Amundsen's brother. The film will detail how Amundsen won his epic race to the South Pole, beating Robert Scott and the British Empire. It will also shed a light on the aspects of Amundsen's private life, including secret affairs and his close, but troubled relationship with his brother. The film will be shot in Iceland, Czech Republic and Norway and is expected to release early next year.

Angelina Jolie to produce Jim Thorpe Biopic 'Bright Path'

Actor Angelina Jolie will be producing the film based on the life of legendary Native American athlete Jim Thorpe. Martin Sensmeier will portray the world-renowned athlete in the film, titled "Bright Path: The Jim Thorpe Story", reported Deadline. Jolie, 42, will produce the project along with Steve Tisch, Abraham Taylor and Todd Black of Escape Artists Productions. Sensmeier, 32, will also serve as the executive producer on the project. "I'm honoured to be working on this project. I have had the privilege of spending time with Bill Thorpe, and will be listening to and guided by the Tribes and the Thorpe family in the making of this film," said Jolie in a statement. The film's script has been written by Taylor along with Alex Nibley and Sterlin Harjo. In 1912, Thorpe won two Olympic gold medals representing the United States while his citizenship went unrecognized during a period of cultural genocide for Native Americans. Kate Winslet, Willem Dafoe lead voice cast of 'Manou the Swift'

Actors Kate Winslet and Willem Dafoe have joined the voice cast of the animated film "Manou the Swift". Winslet, 42, and Dafoe, 62, will voice seagull parents of an adopted swift called Manou in the film, which will be directed by Christian Haas and Andrea Block, reported Variety. The story follows Manou, who tries to emulate his seagull parents by diving into the sea and trying to catch fish, but he fails. But when the seagulls and the swifts get into trouble, Manou fights like a hero. German effects company LUXX Studios, the VFX house behind Roland Emmerich's "White House Down" and Wes Anderson's "Grand Budapest Hotel", is providing animation for the film. Melissa Benoist to make Broadway debut with 'Beautiful'

"Supergirl" star Melissa Benoist is all set to make her Broadway debut with "Beautiful: The Carole King Musical". The announcement was made by producers Paul Blake and Sony/ATV Music Publishing, stating that Benoist, 29, will portray Carole King in the musical from June 7 and will play a limited run through August 4. "The stage has always felt like home to me and the fact that I will be joining the amazingly talented 'Beautiful' family for my Broadway debut is wish fulfilment at its finest. "Carole's music was a mainstay in my household growing up, like it was for so many people. It will be an honour and a pleasure to sing her music and portray her inspiring resilience to audiences every night," Benoist said in a statement obtained by Entertainment Weekly. The musical focuses on the early life and career of King, the famed singer-songwriter, and it opened on Broadway in 2014.
