Xi wants screening of more Bollywood movies in China

Chinese President Xi Jinping has seen a number of Indian films, including Hindi and regional, and believes it would be a good idea that Bollywood movies come to China and vice-versa. Briefing reporters at the end of the two-day informal summit between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and President Xi in the central Chinese city, Foreign Secretary Vijay Gokhale said they proposed collaboration in the areas of spirituality, trade, technology, tradition and entertainment including films. "President Xi said that he had seen a number of Indian films, both Bollywood and regional, and that it would be a good idea that more Indian films come to China and more Chinese films go to India," Gokhale said. Unlike Hollywood, Indian film industry doesn't value TV actors: Anita

Anita Hassanandani, one of the popular actors of Indian television, says unlike Hollywood, TV actors are not valued much by the film industry in India. Anita made her debut with "Kabhii Sautan Kabhii Sahelii" and went to appears in shows such as "Kkavyanjali" and "Kasamh Se" while also acting in films like "Kucch Toh Hai", "Krishna Cottage" and others. "I believe TV actors are very talented, the kind of pressure they face while doing television is immense. If you have done TV, then you can do films easily. Amitabh Bachchan's name dropped from RBU's D Litt recipients' list: V-C

The Rabindra Bharati University (RBU) has struck off the name of Bollywood superstar Amitabh Bachchan from the list of D Litt recipients this year, following a directive from Governor Keshari Nath Tripathi, vice-chancellor Sabyasachi Basu Ray Chaudhury said today. Tripathi has asked the varsity to not bestow the honorary award on any person in absentia, Chaudhury said. Bachchan had earlier said that he would be unable to receive the D Litt at the RBU's 43rd convocation on May 8, due to prior shooting commitments. The other eminent personalities who would be conferred the D Litt (honoris causa) at the convocation are writer Nabanita Dev Sen, painter Jatin Das and classical vocalist Pt. Amiya Ranjan Bandyopadhyay, the vice-chancellor said. The convocation programme will be held at the Jorasanko campus of RBU, the ancestral home of Rabindranath Tagore, a day ahead of the bard's birth anniversary. Veteran painter Rabin Mondal will be given the Hirachand Dugar Memorial Award, while singer .

Guillermo del Toro to produce 'Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark'

Guillermo del Toro is on board to produce the film adaptation of "Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark". The Oscar-winning filmmaker has also co-written the script from which Andre Ovredal will direct, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The project, based on Alvin Schwartz's internationally best-selling book series, will be co-financed by CBS Films and Entertainment One. Daniel Hageman and Kevin Hageman, whose writing credits include "The Lego Movie" and "Hotel Transylvania", have adapted the script along with del Toro. The film follows a group of young teens who must solve the mystery surrounding sudden and macabre deaths in their small town. "Scary Sories to Tell in the Dark" will be shot in Toronto this summer.
