Veteran actor Kamal Haasan has announced he will commence his political journey from his hometown Ramanathapuram on February 21, when he will also reveal the name of his party.
Renowned cinematographer W B Rao passed away this morning at a suburban hospital. Rao, known for his works in Bollywood hits like "Rangeela", "Hum" and "Khuda Gawah", breathed his last at the Bhartiya Arogya Nidhi Hospital, sources close to the family said. In a career spanning four decades, Rao's first break as a cinematographer happened in 1987 with Mukul Anand's "Insaaf" starring Vinod Khanna and Dimple Kapadia. Some of his other notable films include "Dhadkan", "Judwaa", "Har Dil Jo Pyar Karega" and others. Actor and host Naved Jafri and filmmaker Sangeeth Sivan took to twitter to offer their condolences. "Legendary craftsman of indian cinema passes away, ace cinematographer WB Rao sahab has left us, May his soul rest in peace, may the almighty give strength and patience to the family, deepest condolences," Jafri said on Twitter. Sivan said, "W B Rao, the much respected and revered cinematographer is no more.

Tamil Nadu Governor Banwarilal Purohit today described the late 'Gnani' Sankaran as an independent and fearless journalist who spoke his mind. "I am shocked to know about the demise of Gnani Sankaran, veteran journalist, writer and political analyst," a Raj Bhavan release, quoting Purohit, said. He was an independent, fearless journalist who spoke his mind and never compromised on his principles, the governor said. Sankaran was a strong believer in democratic values and did his best to propagate the values of freedom, expression and principled journalism in society, Purohit said. "His death is a great loss to the society, particularly to the journalist fraternity, Purohit said, extending his condolences to the bereaved family. A cinema in northern Israel is to be named after Israeli-born Hollywood celeb Gal Gadot, star of the blockbuster hit "Wonder Woman", the town of Upper Nazareth said today. "We are going to name the new cinema after Gal Gadot, an Israeli actress who brings honour to this country," municipal spokeswoman Orna Yosef told AFP. "This is a message for our young people because Gal Gadot is an example of success, who has shown that dreams can be attained." Gadot, 32, won the Miss Israel beauty pageant in 2004 aged 18.
