'Mukkabaaz' gets U/A certificate, Kashyap thanks Joshi, Irani

Anurag Kashyap's upcoming film, "Mukkabaaz" has been given a U/A certificate by the CBFC and the director says he is grateful to censor board chief Prasoon Joshi for a "reasonable, rational and empowering experience". The filmmaker also thanked I and B Minister Smriti Irani for providing him with some "space" to express himself in a free and fearless manner through his movie. Starring Vineet Kumar Singh and Zoya Hussain, the sports drama chronicles the power dynamics in Uttar Pradesh and has been receiving praise even before its scheduled release on January 12. Justin Timberlake announces 'Man of the Woods' tour

Actor-singer Justin Timberlake has announced 'Man of the Woods' tour to promote his new LP. The 36-year-old star announced in a video that he will be embarking on a brand new tour. "The outdoors is the inspiration for a lot of these songs. That's the main idea. The tour will be able to bring the outside in," Timberlake explained in the clip. "How can we bring that to life? I want people to see the inspiration for how it ended up sounding. I've never seen that done before - bring the outside in," he added. The announcement comes days after the singer released the first single, "Filthy", from his latest album. According to People magazine, the tour will kick off on March 13 in Toronto and will stop in 27 cities, including Los Angeles, Miami and New York City. The trek ends in Timberlake's hometown, Memphis on May 30.

Juno Temple wants to star in sci-fi films

Actor Juno Temple has said that she wants to act in sci-fi movies. The 28-year-old star recently filmed an episode of TV series "Electric Dreams", where each installment is a distinct Philip K Dick short story. "It's sci-fi which I've never done before which was a real challenge and exciting," Temple told BANG Showbiz. "I have definitely never said a lot of the words I had to so it was difficult trying to figure out how to make that sound normal in my mouth and it was a challenge, but then this is an amazing job and you do your research and learn a lot about things," she added. Temple said after doing sci-fi on television, she would like to pursue the "challenge" even in the movies. "Sure, definitely. It was an amazing challenge. "I hope the episode turned out well but it was a really cool challenge and you start thinking about AI (artificial intelligence) and what they are and how human are they and I really loved it," she said.

Ridley Scott has another 'Blade Runner' idea

Director Ridley Scott believes there is another story that could be told in the "Blade Runner" franchise. The ace filmmaker directed the 1982 cult classic "Blade Runner", which featured Harrison Ford and Sean Young. The film's sequel, "Blade Runner 2049", helmed by Denis Villeneuve, was released last year. Ford reprised his role in the film, which also starred Ryan Gosling, Ana de Armas, Sylvia Hoeks and Robin Wright. "I hope so, I think there is another story. I've got another one ready to evolve and be developed. So there is certainly one to be done for sure," Scott told DigitalSpy.

Actor Chris Hemsworth has said that if given an opportunity, he would love to keep on playing superhero Thor in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. French honour to be conferred on actor at Kolkata book fair

France will confer its highest order of merit, the 'Legion of Honour', on legendary film and theatre actor Soumitra Chattopadhyay at the 42nd International Kolkata Book Fair. The honour will be bestowed on the actor -- who starred in many of Satyajit Ray's iconic films -- by French culture and communication minister Francoise Nyssen in Kolkata. "The highest order of merit, the Legion of Honour, will be conferred on the legendary film personality Soumitra Chattopadhyay from the inaugural dais (of the book fair) by our minister of Culture and Communication Francoise Nyssen," French Ambassador Alexandre Ziegler said here today. Chattopadhyay, 82, acted in several of Ray's films, including Apur Sansar, Abhijan, Charulata, Aranyer Din Ratri and Sonar Kella. HC rejects The Wire's plea against Jay Shah's defamation suit

The Gujarat High Court today rejected a petition filed by news portal 'The Wire' seeking quashing of a criminal defamation case filed against it by BJP president Amit Shah's son Jay over an article related to his company. Justice J B Pardiwala rejected the petition on the grounds that the article, "The Golden Touch of Jay Amit Shah", is per say "defamatory" and the trial court should proceed with the case. The HC, which had earlier directed the trial court to complete the hearing in the case in six months, today withdrew that order. This means there is no time-frame for the trial court to complete the hearing. S M Vatsa, the lawyer for the author of the article and editors of the news portal, had maintained the news report was not "defamatory," and the facts presented in it were based on public documents. 'Padmavat' will not be released in Rajasthan: Raje

Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje today announced that Sanjay Leela Bhansali's controversial film "Padmavati", retitled "Padmavat", will not release in the state on January 25. Honouring the sentiments of the people of the state, the film will not be released in Rajasthan, she said in a statement here. Following the announcement, state Home Minister Gulab Chand Kataria, the Rajasthan BJP chief and several Rajput organisations spoke out against the movie. Philippe Coutinho will not be able to make his debut for Barcelona until the end of January because he has a thigh injury, the club said today. Committed to press freedom: Centre on Aadhaar row; Is India a

The Centre today asserted it is committed to the freedom of the press amid mounting outcry over an FIR lodged in connection with a newspaper report on alleged Aadhaar data breach with BJP MP Shatrughan Sinha wondering if people were living in a "banana republic". The Delhi Police has registered an "open-ended" First Information Report(FIR) on a complaint from Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) over the report on alleged data breach. The UIDAI's complaint sparked condemnation from the Confederation of Newspaper and News Agency Employees' Organisations which demanded its withdrawal. Calling it an attack on the free press, the Confederation said the UIDAI should highlight errors in the report, if any, instead of taking penal action. Though the complaint named four persons, including the Chandigarh-based daily The Tribune's reporter who had filed the story on alleged breach in Aadhaar database, Law and IT Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad said the FIR was against .
