Actor Hailee Steinfield says she loved the idea of playing a young female character who is a normal girl in "Transformers" spin-off "Bumblebee". The 22-year-old actor plays the role of a headstrong vulnerable teenager Charlie Wilson who befriends the affable autoboot Bumblebee in the Travis Knight-directed film. How Wilson and Bumblebee end up helping each other in times of crisis is the plot. "She doesn't have any special powers but she has the qualities of a superhero. She is brave, strong, smart and fully capable to handle obstacles that come her way. "Although she might not necessarily know that, she discovers that with a help of a Transformer friend named Bumblebee'. Kin of deceased accuses Zareen Khan's driver
The friends and family of a 31-year-old man, who died after his two-wheeler allegedly rammed into Bollywood actor Zareen Khan's vehicle in Goa, has accused the actor's driver for taking a turn without showing indicator, as a result of which the accident allegedly took place."Their enjoyment made me suffer the loss of my brother," said Vishal, deceased's brother.Anjuna police registered an accidental case against actor's driver, Abbas Ali and arrested him. They also recorded Zareen's statement for the same.The incident took place at Dream circle, Nagao on Wednesday evening after Nitesh Goral, a resident of Mapusa, rammed his scooter into the car, before falling off.One of Nitesh's friend also stated that Zareen was sitting on the front seat and she must know whose mistake it was.Police informed that deceased rider dashed into Zareen's car and sustained grievous injuries. He was declared dead on arrival at the Asilo Hospital in Mapusa.

Bengal govt to build lab for restoring, digitising films
The West Bengal government has sanctioned Rs 21 crore for setting up a world-class laboratory in the city for preserving and digitising films that form a part of the state's cultural identity, an official said. A nine-storeyed laboratory will shortly come up in Tollygunge, where a major chunk of production houses and studios of the Bengali film industry are based, he said. "The government has massive digitizations plans and the laboratory will be equipped with all modern facilities for the purpose. An e-tender has already been floated for purchase of technical equipment," he explained. The initiative will go a long way in helping filmmakers in the future, the official said. "The administration has also arranged for workshops to train people in handling reels and other equipment," he added. Netflix to make true-crime series on serial killer Ted Bundy
Netflix is adding another true-crime series to its roster and the streaming giant will be focusing on serial killer Ted Bundy this time. Netflix will premiere "Conversations With a Killer: The Ted Bundy Tapes" on January 24. According to the Hollywood Reporter, the date is exactly 30 years after Bundy was executed for the 1978 murder of Kimberly Leach. The four-part series from Emmy winner Joe Berlinger, will feature previously unheard audio of interviews with Bundy while he was on death row in Florida. It will also detail Bundy's killings, he was convicted of murdering more than 30 women in the 1970s, and the media frenzy around his trials. The series is inspired by a book of the same name by journalists Stephen G Michaud and Hugh Aynesworth. The show derives from more than 100 hours of recordings Michaud and Aynesworth made of Bundy while he was on death row, giving a rare perspective of the killer analysing his own life and motives. Vir Das on Thursday announced that his debut American TV show, "Whiskey Cavalier" will premiere on February 27. The ABC series will see Das playing an agent Jai Datta. Giancarlo Esposito, Carl Weathers join Star Wars spin-off 'The Mandalorian'
Actors Giancarlo Esposito, Carl Weathers, Emily Swallow and Omid Abtahi have joined the cast of Star Wars spin-off "The Mandalorian". According to the Hollywood Reporter, the casting of Pedro Pascal, Gina Carano, Nick Nolte and Werner Herzog has also been confirmed. Jon Favreau wrote the series and is executive producing along with Kathleen Kennedy, Colin Wilson and Dave Filoni. Filoni will also direct episodes, as will Taika Waititi, Bryce Dallas Howard, Rick Famuyiwa and Deborah Chow. According to the sources, the series is set about five years after events in "Return of the Jedi" in a region called the Outer Rim, where people both do not know and do not care that the Empire has fallen. "The Mandalorian" is one of two live-action "Star Wars" series due to bow on Disney+. Cher writing her 'life story', book to publish in 2020
Legendary singer Cher has announced that she is penning a book on her life story. The iconic singer-actor wrote on Twitter, "Book due out in first part of 2020. Bio Pic to follow." Cher had earlier published an essay collection "The First Time", in which she recounted various events from her life. It was released by Simon & Schuster in late 1998, shortly after the death of her husband and partner Sonny Bono. She was also behind the 1991 exercise book "Forever Fit" and the children's book "Reaching Your Goals", in which she relayed her own experiences of self-actualisation for inspiration.
