Woody Allen won't stop writing despite Hollywood condemnation
Woody Allen is unfazed by the resurfacing of the sexual assault allegations levelled against him by Dylan Farrow and the filmmaker says he would go about doing his business irrespective of the industry's criticism. Dylan, Allen's adopted daughter with former wife Mia Farrow, accused the director of sexually abusing her in the early 1990s while she was a child. Asked if bad publicity would drive Hollywood stars to not work with, Allen told Page Six, "I'm a writer. It's what I am. What I do. What I always will be. I'll write. Since I continually have ideas it'll be new ideas and I'll write new things." Last week, actor Javier Bardem had said he disagrees with the "Vicky Christina Barcelona" director's "public lynching" over the years old allegations and would love to collaborate with Allen if he called him. Suresh Nambath appointed as next editor of The Hindu
The board of directors of The Hindu Publishing Group has appointed senior journalist Suresh Nambath as editor of The Hindu with effect from March 1 next year. He will succeed Mukund Padmanabhan, who has been editor of the prominent newspaper since March 2016, the group said in a statement on Monday. It said the directors of the group were unanimous in appointing Nambath, who has been working with the newspaper for the last 22 years, to the top post. "Over the past 22 years Mr Nambath has engaged himself in various aspects of bringing out an iconic newspaper, which is now 140 years old. He has played a coordinating and leadership role on the news as well as editorial and opinion sides," the group said in a statement. Nambath joined The Hindu as principal correspondent covering Tamil Nadu politics in October 1996 and served as the newspaper's Tamil Nadu bureau chief between July 2006 and February 2012. Sanjay Leela Bhansali's magnum opus "Padmaavat" has been officially selected for Taipei Golden Horse Film Festival this year. The official Twitter handle of the film announced the news Monday. "Delighted, overwhelmed and incredibly blessed. #Padmaavat has been officially selected at 2018 Taipei Golden Horse FF," the post read. The film, which released in January after a lot of pre-release controversy and protests by Rajput groups, is Bhansali's re-imagining of the story of Queen Padmavati, her king consort Maha Rawal Ratan Singh and Sultan Alauddin Khilji. The 1980s smashing hit "Himmatwala" might have turned Sridevi into an overnight star in Bollywood, but according to a new book, the actor considered the film a "bad luck" for her. Quoting an 1987 interview of the yesteryear actor, the book titled "Sridevi: Queen of Hearts", said that she was not entirely pleased that her first big hit in Hindi cinema was "Himmatwala" (1983).
