Macedonia selects 'Secret Ingredient' for 91st Oscars

Macedonia has officially selected Iscelitel (Secret Ingredient) as its entry for the 'foreign language film' category at the 91st Oscars.Directed by Gjorce Stavreski, the story revolves around a series of dramatic events triggered by a therapeutic cannabis cake, reported The Hollywood Reporter.The film mixes drama and comedy perfectly and it shows an underpaid train mechanic giving his father a cake made of stolen marijuana to relieve and calm his cancer pain. However, he is soon cornered by criminals making it hard for him to escape as they are searching for their drugs and the nosy neighbours who want a recipe for the secret healing cake.'Secret Ingredient' is Macedonia's 15th entry in the 'foreign language film' category in the Oscar race since 1994.Milcho Manchevski's 'Before the Rain' was the first submission, and the only one to have earned an Academy Award nomination.

'Downton Abbey' movie finally gets release date

Good news for all the 'Downtown Abbey' fans, as the movie has finally got a release date.Focus Features is all set to treat the fans with the movie on September 20, 2019, in North America, while Universal Pictures International will debut the film worldwide a week earlier on September 13, 2019, reported Variety."Since the series ended, fans of 'Downton' have long been waiting for the Crawley family's next chapter," said Focus Features chairman Peter Kujawski."We're thrilled to join this incredible group of filmmakers, actors and craftspeople, led by Julian Fellowes and Gareth Neame, in bringing back the world of 'Downton' to the big screen next September," he added.The announcement of the British historical drama series to return as a movie first came out in July.The production started in late August. Marvel to create separate TV shows for its heroes, villains

Marvel Studios is on its way to develop separate TV shows for its famous superheroes and villains.The characters who are likely to get their own series are Loki and the Scarlet Witch confirmed The Hollywood Reporter.Disney studios, who are collaborators in the project, are planning to rope in Tom Hiddleston and Elizabeth Olsen for the roles, as both the actors have played these respective roles on the big screen.Disney will launch these TV shows on their new streaming service which is set to be launched next year.Around 500 films from the Disney library will be played in the yet-to-be-launched-service.

Delete 'objectionable' scenes in 'Manmarziyaan' before screening: DM Jammu

Authorities Wednesday ordered deletion of four scenes from Anurag Kashyap's "Manmarziyaan"before its screening here. The order was passed by district magistrate, Jammu, Ramesh Kumar following a representation by a Sikh organisation, which said the film had hurt the religious sentiments of the community, officials said. The community has objected to certain scenes which show the characters smoking. The film, featuring Taapsee Pannu, Vicky Kaushal and Abhishek Bachchan, was released on September 14 and is being screened at different theatres in Jammu. " it is hereby ordered that the four scenes that hurt the sentiments of the Sikh community be deleted or blocked from the film before it is screened in the cinema halls," the officials said quoting an order issued by the district magistrate. Kumar directed the concerned Sub-divisional Magistrates, Tehsildars, Sub-divisional police officers and Station House Officers to ensure the compliance of the order. Divyendu Sharma did not want to limit himself as a comic actor post his debut in "Pyaar Ka Punchnama" but believes now would be a fun time to revisit the franchise. 'Bhoga Khirikee' (Broken Window), Bollywood star Priyanka Chopra's first Assamese film as producer, will hit the screens on October 26 across Assam and other parts of the country. Addressing a press conference on Wednesday here, Chopra's mother and co-producer Madhu Chopra said: "The film will be commercially released on October 26 across all theatres in Assam. We will also release it in most of East India, Mumbai and Delhi." GIFF to showcase 108 movies from 50 countries

The second edition of the Guwahati International Film Festival (GIFF) will kick off on October 25 with a platter of 108 flicks from 50 countries, the organisers of the event said Wednesday. The seven-day extravaganza will begin with streaming of the National Award winning Director Jahnu Barua's yet to release Assamese film 'Bhoga Khirikee'. The Assam government-owned Jyoti Chitraban (Film Studio) Society is the organiser of the festival, in association with Dr Bhupen Hazarika Regional Government Film and Television Institute. "We are going to have 108 films from 50 countries. Till now, films from 48 countries have been enlisted.
