'New title of Salman Khan movie is unacceptable'
A day after Bollywood actor Salman Khan's upcoming film's title was changed from "Loveratri" to "Loveyatri", a Hindu outfit told the Gujarat High Court Wednesday that the new title was unacceptable to it. The city-based Sanatan Foundation had last week moved a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) seeking change of the title and some content of the film, or its ban for "hurting sentiments of Hindus". The outfit told the court Wednesday that the new film title was not acceptable as it still sounds similar to Hindu festival 'Navratri'. The petitioner's lawyer B B Agrawal submitted in the court that the film's tagline - a journey of love - as shown in its posters and promotions could be converted into "Love Ki Yatra". Smoking scenes deleted from 'Manmarziyaan', Anurag apologises to those genuinely hurt
"Manmarziyaan" producers have deleted three scenes from the film after members of the Sikh community objected to a scene where Abhishek Bachchan's character is shown smoking. The producers approached the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) regarding the deletion of the scenes. According to a censor copy, the three deleted scenes include a 29-second smoking sequence of Abhishek, a minute long scene featuring Taapsee Pannu and Abhishek entering a gurudwara and an 11-second scene where Taapsee is shown smoking. "We have removed the three scenes from the film as people's sentiments were getting hurt. The said changes have come into effect in metros from today and will reflect across India from the coming Thursday-Friday," a source from the production side told PTI. Salman Khan has tweaked the title of his upcoming home production "Loveratri" to avoid controversy. The film is now called "Loveyatri". "This is not a spelling mistake... #loveyatri #lovetakesover... @SKFilmsOfficial @aaysharma @Warina_Hussain @abhiraj21288 @TSeries" he wrote. The film's earlier title had upset some groups who had alleged that it distorted the name of a Hindu festival. Nawazuddin Siddiqui and Mithun Chakraborty-starrer "Genius" has come under fire from people from across the border, courtesy a scene that shows Lahore's Arfa Technology Park as the Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) headquarters. The official headquarters of the Pakistan's spy agency is situated in Islamabad. The anomaly in the Anil Sharma-directed film was detected by Umar Saif, a Pakistani IT expert on Twitter.
