Noel Gallagher turned down chance to feature on 'Trainspotting' soundtrack
Oasis star Noel Gallagher has revealed he rejected the chance to appear on the "Trainspotting" soundtrack. The 51-year-old star said his band was offered to create a song for the iconic film but they said no because he thought it was a movie about train enthusiasts. "I turned down the chance to be part of the 'Trainspotting' soundtrack because I thought it was a movie about trainspotters. Oasis were on the other side of the world at the time and someone said, 'Do you want to get involved in this new film that's called 'Trainspotting'?' And I went, 'Trainspotters? F*** that!'' Gallagher told Matt Morgan in a YouTube interview. Directed by Danny Boyle and starring Ewan McGregor, Ewen Bremner, Jonny Lee Miller, Kevin McKidd, Robert Carlyle, and Kelly Macdonald, "Trainspotting" released in 1996. The film has been ranked 10th by the British Film Institute (BFI) in its list of Top 100 British films of the 20th century.

Processional idol slips from priest's hands;falls to ground
The centuries old processional idol carried by a priest at the Lord Venkateswara hill shrine at nearby Tirumala slipped from his hands and fell down,following which special poojas were performed and it was placed in the sanctum sanctorum. A temple official told PTI that the priest was carrying the deity to the inner sanctum sanctorum from the 'Garuda Alwar Mandapam' after a daily ritual when he skidded and fell to the ground. The idol fell from his grasp and tumbled down the stone floor, he said. West Bengal Governor K N Tripathi Saturday expressed concerns over the menace of fake news and said "planting and promoting" it is a crime against the nation. "Every happening should not be looked into through coloured glasses. Truth must be reported. A reporter must report objectively and should avoid false and concocted news jeopardising the future of the country," he said while speaking at the annual Sarat Bose Memorial Lecture. The topic of the Sarat Bose Memorial Lecture was 'The News Media Today: Watchdog or Promoter of Fake News?'. "No doubt the media has to be critical, analytical impartial to bring to the notice of the people the functioning of the government," he said.
