Dylan McDermott's sexual assault investigation dismissed

Actor Dylan Mcdermott will not face charges following sexual assault allegations lodged against him. The "American Horror Story" (AHS) star was accused of assaulting a woman in 1991. However, he will not be prosecuted because the alleged incident is "outside the statute of limitations," according to the Los Angeles County District Attorney's office. "The reporting party alleged that she was the victim of a sexual assault by the suspect in 1991. The allegation is outside the statute of limitations, therefore, an analysis of the strengths and weaknesses of the evidence is not warranted and prosecution is declined," read a statement from the DA's office sent to The Hollywood Reporter. The dismissal of McDermott's case comes days after it was revealed that the D A's office also declined to file charges against actors Kevin Spacey, Steven Seagal and Anthony Anderson, all of whom have also been accused of sexual misconduct. The actor will be returning to the FX anthology for "AHS: ...

Don't want to be accessory in films: Kritika Kamra

Popular TV actor Kritika Kamra, who is making her Bollywood debut with "Mitron", says she is not game for doing minuscule parts in films. Kritika never took a break from television to actively chase films and is thankful to the small screen for giving her name and fame. "Because of TV, I am financially secure today and can wait for the kind of films I want to do. TV is all about female lead and we are used to playing the protagonist and then you don't want to do small roles. "I don't want to do blink-and-miss kind of roles, don't want to be an accessory in a film, or just do a song-and-dance. That's why it took long time for me to do a feature film," Kritika told PTI. In the past, Kritika says she came close to doing a film with Dharma Production and Ekta Kapoor featuring Emraan Hashmi and Kareena Kapoor Khan which apparently got shelved. "I had also signed for a film with UTV. I did not expect these films will not work. Like when you do arthouse films you know anything can happen. I .

Don't think I'll get married again: Kalki Koechlin

Actor Kalki Koechlin believes society has built the institution of marriage in a way where women are still looked at as the weaker sex. In an interview published in a recently launched book, "Feminist Rani", penned by Shaili Chopra and Meghna Pant, the actor said the "biggest problem" with marriage, especially for a woman, is the idea of "ownership". Kalki and filmmaker Anurag Kashyap, who got married in 2011, went through a divorce in 2015 after being separated for two years. "Once I got married, I was only invited to the things that Anurag was invited to. People would say, 'Call Anurag's wife'. They wouldn't say, 'call Kalki' or 'call Kalki's husband'. "In marriage, a woman becomes the weaker sex, even if her husband doesn't want her to be. This happens because of the way society has built the institution," she said. Stating that "honesty" and "independence" are a must in a relationship, Kalki also shared how she went about the process of coming out of her marriage after the ...

Sarah Jessica Parker finds 'Sex and the City' 'tone deaf' in present day

Actor Sarah Jessica Parker, the star of "Sex and the City" films and TV show, believes the popular HBO show feels "tone deaf" now as it lacks diversity. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the 53-year-old actor, who is attending the Deauville Film Festival where her new film "Here and Now" premieres, was asked about the show which completed its 20th anniversary recently. "You couldn't make it today because of the lack of diversity on screen. I personally think it would feel bizarre," Parker said. The actor also dismissed the suggestion that the show should be rebooted with a new diverse cast. "I don't know that you could do it with a different cast. I think that's radical and interesting, but you can't pretend it's the same. It wouldn't be a reboot as I understand it," she said. "If you came back and did six episodes, you'd have to acknowledge the city is not hospitable to those same ideas. You'd look like you were generationally removed from reality, but it would be certainly ...

Rapper Mac Miller dead at 26

Rapper Mac Miller has died from an apparent overdose at his residence here. The 26-year-old rapper, whose real name was Malcolm James McCormick, was found unresponsive in his home in the Studio City neighbourhood. Miller's family released a statement about his death Saturday, reported Variety. "Malcolm McCormick, known and adored by fans as Mac Miller, has tragically passed away at the age of 26. He was a bright light in this world for his family, friends, and fans," read the statement. Miller had long suffered from substance abuse and was even vocal about it. In his deeply personal 2014 mixtape "Faces", the rapper had addressed his drug addiction. Miller went through a well-publicised break-up with singer Ariana Grande earlier this year. The pair, who met in 2012, collaborated on a number of songs and performed together at the One Love Manchester concert in 2017. In August, Los Angeles police charged the rapper with driving under the influence when he crashed his car into a ...

Unless you make it to big screen people think you are not doing well: Avinash Tiwary

Actor Avinash Tiwary, who is getting critical praise for his performance in "Laila Majnu", believes there are ample opportunities for artistes in the show business before they make it to the big screen. Tiwary, who has made his Hindi film debut with the Sajid Ali-directed film, says his goal has always been to do good work but at the same time he does not want to do characters that would box him in a certain image. "I think there's a lot of work for actors in the city. Fortunately or unfortunately, unless and until you make it to the big screen people don't think you're doing well enough. Otherwise, there is enough work for actors in Mumbai. "When I was starting there were so many channels that were coming up, I thought I'll do something or the other. I'll survive but I won't starve myself. So, I kept working but yes I wanted to work in films," Tiwary told PTI in an interview. Before "Laila Majnu", Tiwary had worked alongside megastar Amitabh Bachchan in thriller TV show "Yudh" where .

It's a huge boost as filmmaker: Vasan Bala on TIFF premiere of 'Mard Ko Dard Nahi Hota'

"Peddlers" director Vasan Bala is back with a coming-of-age story in quirkily titled "Mard Ko Dard Nahi Hota", which is set to have its world premiere at the ongoing Toronto International Film Festival's Midnight Madness segment. Bala, whose first film "Peddlers" remains unreleased despite garnering acclaim in festivals, said the selection of his second film at a prestigious festival like TIFF came as a huge relief. "It is a huge boost because it is the first Indian film to be selected in that category. I'm a big fan of the segment. It is so challenging for filmmakers with the studio system in Bollywood and elsewhere to make original films. "It's difficult for fresh new voices to come up in the market because people aren't that receptive. In a place like Midnight Madness you can see the madness in you. It is very refreshing to be part of that line-up, to be considered mad enough," he told PTI in an interview. The film revolves around a man with congenital insensitivity to pain, hence .
