Munn takes stand after finding 'The Predator' actor to be a sex offender

Actor Olivia Munn took a stand against a registered sex offender after she found that he was a cast in her upcoming sci-fi movie 'The Predator'.The man against whom Olivia Munn spoke up was actor Steven Wilder Striegel. He was cast in the film for a scene opposite Munn. He was playing the role of a jogger who flirted with Munn's character.Striegel was arrested in 2009 and had pleaded guilty in 2010 for alleged sexual harassment of a minor, reported E! Online. He went to prison for six months. The lead singer of 'Rolling Stones' Mick Jagger is set to star in an upcoming heist movie 'The Burnt Orange Heresy'.In the movie, directed by Giuseppe Capotondi, Jagger will join other actors Claes Bang and Elizabeth Debicki of 'The Great Gatsby' fame, reported Deadline. The movie is based on a novel by Charles Willeford.The thriller drama, which is set in present-day Italy is about an art critic James Figueras (Bang) who starts dating Berenice Hollis (Debicki). Oscars takes down 'Popular' category for its 91st edition

Academy shelves plans for 'popular' Oscar award

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences said Thursday it was shelving plans for a "popular film" Oscar award that had been ridiculed by critics as a desperate bid to boost viewership and honour moneymaking movies. "There has been a wide range of reactions to the introduction of a new award, and we recognize the need for further discussion with our members," Dawn Hudson, the CEO of the Academy, said in a statement. Women playwrights to be focus of inter-state drama festival

Women playwrights and directors would be the primary focus of the forthcoming seven-day annual Brajanath Sharma Memorial Inter-State Drama Festival, starting next week. The 12th edition of the festival, organised by theatre group Samahar Natya Gosthee in association with Indian Oil Corporation, will showcase the work of four women playwrights and directors, the Festival Committee's general secretary Sitanath Lahkar told reporters on Thursday.
