Jessica Chastain, Eddie Redmayne in talks for thriller 'The Good Nurse'

Actors Jessica Chastain and Eddie Redmayne are in negotiations to star in the serial killer thriller "The Good Nurse". The project is an adaptation of Charles Graeber's book of the same name and it will be helmed by Tobias Lindholm, reported Variety. The film has been long in the making and Lindholm came aboard the project two years ago. The script is being adapted by Krysty Wilson-Cairns. The story is about the the pursuit and capture of Charlie Cullen, a nurse who is regarded as one of the most prolific serial killers in history. If finalised, Redmayne, 36, will play Cullen while Chastain, 41, will portray Amy Loughren, a nurse and Cullen's co-worker, whose dogged pursuit helped end the killing spree. The film will be produced by BRON Studios and Darren Aronofsky's Protozoa.

Actor Matthew Perry is on the road to recovery after undergoing gastrointestinal surgery. The actor's representative confirmed to E! online that the actor had "recently underwent surgery in a Los Angeles hospital to repair a gastrointestinal perforation. He is grateful for the concern and asks for continued privacy as he heals." The "Friends" alum, 48, has been open about his health struggles in the past, including his years-long battle with alcohol and Vicodin. According to Healthline.com, gastrointestinal perforation "occurs when a hole forms all the way through the stomach, large bowel, or small intestine. 'House of Cards' final season to premiere in November

Streaming giant Netflix has officially announced that the sixth and final season of "House of Cards" will be premiering on November 2. With Kevin Spacey out after sexual misconduct allegations, Robin Wright will return as Claire Underwood, the President of the United States in the series. She is joined by newcomers Diane Lane and Greg Kinnear as well as Cody Fern. The series also brings back Michael Kelly, Jayne Atkinson, Patricia Clarkson, Constance Zimmer, Derek Cecil, Campbell Scott and Boris McGiver. The season will "bring closure of the show for fans" and bring back to work some 2,000 people in the Baltimore area whose livelihoods depend on the show, Netflix's chief content officer Ted Sarandos said in December. The Academy re-elects John Bailey as president

The Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences has re-elected John Bailey as president for a second term. The re-election comes just a few months after the organisation investigated and dismissed a sexual harassment allegation against him. Bailey is the first cinematographer to hold the position of Academy president, which boasts of more than 9,000 members, the organisation said in a release. His credits include "Ordinary People", "American Gigolo", "The Big Chill", "Groundhog Day" and "As Good as It Gets". Academy board members may serve up to three consecutive three-year terms, while officers serve one-year terms, with a maximum of four consecutive years in any one office. 'Cowboy Ninja Viking' delayed after Universal pulls it from release schedule

Universal Pictures has removed the upcoming film "Cowboys Ninja Vikings", starring Chris Pratt and Priyanka Chopra, from its release calender. The move has led to reports that the film, whose shooting was expected to begin in London in a month, has been delayed indefinitely. It was earlier sheduced to release on June 28, 2019. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the studio said the project remains in active development and will be dated down the line "to accommodate production scheduling".
