Efforts on to spruce up areas left out of G20 beautification drive: Atishi

Delhi minister Atishi on Tuesday said officials of various departments are on the ground to take stock of the work needed in areas that did not receive a facelift as part of the G20 beautification drive. The Public Works Department (PWD) minister inspected Press Enclave road in south Delhi on Tuesday morning. Talking to PTI video, she said, "Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal promised the people of Delhi that we will beautify the entire national capital the way we did with several areas during G20." "We held a review meeting and debriefing with all the departments yesterday. Today, all the departments are on the ground and making efforts to achieve the goal," she added. Atishi on Monday said the Delhi government will extend its beautification efforts to all parts of the national capital after G20 designated parts of the city witnessed a facelift for the international summit.

The US lauded India for hosting the G20 summit, calling it a big "success" and hailing the landmark 'India-Middle East-Europe Economic Corridor' which will usher in a new era of connectivity from Europe to Asia and will stimulate economic growth across the two continents. The G20 Leaders' two-day summit, held under India's presidency, wrapped up on Sunday. On Saturday, the ambitious India-Middle East-Europe Economic Corridor (IMEC) was jointly announced by the leaders of the US, India, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, France, Germany, Italy and the European Union on the sidelines of the summit in New Delhi. The new economic corridor is seen as an alternative to China's controversial Belt and Road Initiative (BRI). RailTel, which was entrusted to provide uninterrupted telecom services and cyber security solutions for the G20 Summit, said more than 3,600 mandays were invested to come up with an information technology infrastructure of global standards for the two-day mega event. The IT solution provider under the railways ministry said the integrated telecom network at the 122-acre ITPO campus at Pragati Maidan, particularly at the newly inaugurated summit venue Bharat Mandapam, entailed a massive infrastructure with 1,675 indoor antennas, over 35 kms of radio frequency cable and 25 kms of fibre cables. The summit of the influential grouping was held on September 9 and 10. In a statement, RailTel said that "over 3,600 mandays were invested by RailTel and its partners to establish cutting-edge mobile network infrastructure and a neutral in-building telecom infrastructure...". NDMC mulling deploying security guards for assets installed for G20

The NDMC on Monday said it is contemplating to deploy security guards to prevent vandalisation or theft of assets like fountains and sculptures installed ahead of the G20 Summit. Different agencies, including the New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC), made extensive preparations for the two-day G20 Summit that saw heads of state from across the world gather in the national capital and concluded on Sunday. Road infrastructure was spruced up, roads were adorned with over 7 lakh potted plants and fountains, statues, sculptures and street furniture were installed in area near the summit venue. "We will maintain the assets, including 65 fountains and nearly 20 sculptures, that were installed at prominent locations and roundabouts for the G20 Summit," NDMC vice-chairman Satish Upadhyay said. The civic body also decorated road stretches, roundabouts and other prominent locations with 1 lakh potted plants.
