Don't indulge in blame game, work as team: Kejriwal on L-G's G20 remarks

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Saturday slammed Lieutenant Governor V K Saxena's remarks that preparations for the G20 summit would have been easier if the city government had worked for nine years and said it was not the time to indulge in a blame game but to act as a team to ensure the event's success. Saxena, in an interview with PTI earlier in the day, said the preparatory work for the G20 summit would have taken lesser efforts had the city government worked throughout the last nine years. Reacting to the report on X, Kejriwal said, "Lesser efforts would have been reqd (required) had MCD under BJP worked for 15 years. It is the duty of MCD to clean Delhi. We are all working v (very) hard since we took over MCD. MCD employees have now started getting their salaries on time after 13 years. They are all motivated. They are working v (very) hard. "Lets not underestimate their efforts. At a time when we all are gearing up to receive international guests, lets not do blame ga

Ensuring robust infra for hosting G20 on a week notice: Delhi L-G Saxena

Being the national capital, Delhi should have an infrastructure that enables it to host a big event like the G20 Summit on a week's notice, Lt Governor V K Saxena said on Saturday, underlining a lot of work has been carried out towards this over the past two months. In an interview to PTI, Saxena said holding bigger events in a city makes a difference to its economy and the image of the country. With objection being raised over the closing of markets for the Summit scheduled on September 9-10, he said restrictions were imposed in the interest of the locals since there is going to be heavy movement of dignitaries and delegates. "The important thing is that such a big event is being held in Delhi. So it needs to be appreciated rather than being complained about that it will affect businesses. The delegates of 40 countries arriving in the city itself will boost business in Delhi," he said. Asked about the budgeting and expenditure on the G20-related beautification works in the city, h

This statue, which is 28-foot tall including the pedestal, was made using the ancient lost-wax technique of metal casting that was used for making the famed Chola bronzes, sources said. The 'Nataraja' statue symbolises Lord Shiva as the 'lord of dance' and his cosmic power of creation and destruction. "We are installing the tallest-ever statue of Nataraja, in the campus of Bharat Mandapam, the venue of the G20 Summit," a source said. The G20 Leaders' Summit will take place from September 9-10 at 'Bharat Mandapam', the newly-built international convention and exhibition centre at the Pragati Maidan. Biden hopes his Chinese counterpart Jinping attends G20 Summit in India

US President Joe Biden on Thursday hoped that his Chinese counterpart Xi Jinping would attend the G20 Summit in New Delhi. Biden, along with more than two dozen world leaders, is scheduled to attend the G20 Summit in New Delhi next week that is being hosted by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Recent media reports said that Russian President Vladimir Putin and Chinese President Xi Jinping are not likely to attend the summit. "The answer is I hope he attends the G20 Summit," Biden told reporters Thursday when asked if he is expecting President Xi to attend the meet. Meanwhile, Farwa Aamer, Director of South Asia Initiatives at the Asia Society Policy Institute (ASPI), said that President Xi's skipping of the G20 Summit in India could be seen as evidence that China at this point of time is reluctant to cede the centre stage to India.
