Top business executives of G7 countries have endorsed India's G20 theme of 'One Earth, One Family, One Future' and said it is essential to achieve sustainable growth that is compatible with the protection of the global environment. Unveiled by Prime Minister Narendra Modi last year, the theme of India's G20 Presidency - 'Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam' or 'One Earth, One Family, One Future' - is drawn from the ancient Sanskrit text of the Maha Upanishad. Union Minister for Youth Affairs and Sports Anurag Thakur on Friday asserted that India will eventually ensure the largest-ever youth participation in the history of Y20 summits, which, he hoped, will bring forth more innovative ideas to solve some of the most difficult issues being faced by the world. Ahead of G20 Summit, NDMC gears up to showcase summer flowers in New Delhi

The New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) has decided to display around four thousand summer season flower plants including Celosia, Balsam, and Cosmos in Satya Sadan area in south Delhi ahead of the G20 Summit. An NDMC official said six varieties of flowers have been sought in a tender floated by the civic body last week. The six varieties are Celosia and Balsam, Cosmos, Gaillardia, Vinca Hybrid variety and the Zinnia. The varieties have been chosen so that the flower remains undaunted in the summer sun and produces a bounty of blooms to enjoy in the garden, an official said. The total number of flower plants sought in the tender stands at 3,950. The council has sought 750 plants of hybrid variety of Celosia in different colours. According to the tender, Celosia flowers should be well-developed fresh and healthy with multi branches at the bloom stage. Surrounded by scrap metal at a G20 park here, artists engrossed in transforming them into incredible sculptures of national birds and animals of the Group of Twenty nations are sure to amaze spectators with their artwork. Two-day G20 conference on energy transition begins in Himachal Pradesh

The two-day G20 Research and Innovation Initiative Gathering (RIIG) conference on building a sustainable and eco-innovative energy transition system commenced at this Himachal Pradesh city on Wednesday. According to a statement, representatives of G20 countries, 27 foreign delegates and 35 experts from India along with delegates and invitees will participate in the meeting. The main theme of the RIIG conference during India's G20 presidency in 2023 is Research and Innovation for Equitable Society' with its four priority areas being Materials for Sustainable Energy, Circular bioeconomy, Eco-Innovations for Energy Transition and Scientific Challenges and Opportunities towards Achieving a Sustainable Blue Economy. ISRO chairman S Somanath on Monday said there was a need for cooperation among the G20 nations on space technologies. G20 HWG meet in Goa to consolidate existing initiatives in health sector

The second meeting of the G20 health working group (HWG) in Goa will leverage the advocacy power of the forum for consolidation of all the existing initiatives in health emergencies, prevention, preparedness, and response arena to plug critical gaps in global health architecture, an official said on Sunday. Addressing a press conference here, additional secretary of Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare Lav Agarwal said health priorities were introduced in the first HWG meeting held in Thiruvananthpuram in January. The group in principle agreed for three proposed priorities, including mapping ongoing initiatives in health emergencies, prevention, preparedness and response and promoted convergence in global health architecture, he said. Developed world will slow down, emerging markets will grow: Amitabh Kant

India will play a lead role during its G20 presidency in redefining and reshaping the world which is facing multiple challenges, Indian Sherpa Amitabh Kant said here on Sunday. Talking about the trend in the past 10 years, Kant told PTI that the developed world would slow down and emerging markets would grow. Resources should therefore flow from the former to the latter so that emerging markets improve, he said. The G20 members represent around 85 per cent of global GDP, over 75 per cent of global trade, and about two-thirds of the world's population. Traffic cops train in soft skills to welcome G20 guests in Greater Noida

As preparations are afoot for hosting G20 event in Greater Noida later this year, the local traffic police personnel are undergoing soft skill training to ensure the international visitors do not face any obstacles on the road. The Noida traffic police personnel will be at the service of G20 dignitaries right from Delhi airport, where a helpdesk would be set up for them. They are also coordinating with their Delhi counterparts to chalk out plan for glitch-free movement on the roads during the event, officials here said.
