CM Patel visits Japan to promote Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit 2024

A high-level delegation led by Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel reached Tokyo in Japan on Sunday morning to promote the upcoming Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit 2024. The 10th edition of the summit will be held between January 10 and 12, 2024. The biennial summit serves as a platform for businesses and governments to explore investment opportunities and establish partnerships. Ambassador of India to Japan Sibi George received CM Patel upon his arrival there, the Gujarat government said in a statement. The crest of Indian Navy's latest warship 'Surat' will be unveiled by Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel in the presence of the Chief of Naval Staff Admiral R Hari Kumar and other senior officers on Monday. Spa centres, hotels raided across Gujarat in crackdown on flesh trade

The Gujarat police have arrested more than 100 people after raiding 805 spas, massage parlours, and hotels as part of a state-wide drive against flesh trade, the government said in a release on Friday. The mega crackdown was carried out on Thursday, a day after Gujarat Minister of State for Home Harsh Sanghavi directed police officials to raid all premises that were suspected of running flesh trade in the guise of legal business. During his interaction with senior police officers via video conferencing, Sanghavi expressed the Gujarat government's resolve to eradicate the flesh trade being run at hotels and in the guise of spa centres, said the release. Accordingly, the police raided 851 locations across the state on Thursday and arrested 105 persons involved in illegal activities, said the release, adding 103 FIRs (first information reports) have been registered. Axis Bank plans to extend its branch network in the state by adding 28 more branches and 69 new ATMs this financial year, as it aims to enhance accessibility for the people of Gujarat. The lender opened its 5000th branch in Ahmedabad city on Tuesday, 29 years after it launched its first branch in the same city. Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel inaugurated the new branch. Police have detained a man hailing from Tamil Nadu after he was found roaming suspiciously near the India-Pakistan border in Gujarat's Kutch district, an official said on Wednesday. Amazon India on Monday said it has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Entrepreneurship Development Institute of India (EDII) and the Cottage and Rural Industries Department, Government of Gujarat, to help drive e-commerce exports from the state. Amazon will focus on bringing weavers, artisans and other micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) from Gujarat on Amazon Global Selling, the e-commerce exports programme. Guj increases financial aid to Rs 50k for Kailash Mansarovar Yatra pilgrims

The Gujarat government on Saturday announced an increase in the financial assistance given to each pilgrim from the state undertaking the Kailash Mansarovar Yatra from the current Rs 23,000 to Rs 50,000. The Kailash Mansarovar Yatra is organised by the Ministry of External Affairs during June to September each year. As cyclone 'Biparjoy' intensifies into a severe cyclonic storm and remains centred around 1,060 km south-west of Gujarat's coastal district of Porbandar, the state government on Wednesday said it was fully prepared to deal with possible natural calamities. According to India Meteorological Department (IMD) officials here, Biparjoy, the first storm brewing in the Arabian Sea this year, is likely to cause wind gusts of 40 to 50 kmph in coastal districts in the coming days and also bring light rains in parts of the state.
