Under this partnership, users can now register for a fresh FASTag or recharge their existing FASTag accounts at Kamats outlets, the restaurant chain said in a statement. Union minister Ashwini Vaishnaw on Saturday said a high-speed train will start plying between Ahmedabad and Sanand in the next six months. Speaking at the ground breaking ceremony of semiconductor company Micron's plant here, Vaishnaw said Vande Bharat Express trains will also halt at Sanand. The revival of monsoon activity in parts of Gujarat over the past few days has boosted the water level of reservoirs, with the stock in 207 major dams across the state rising to 93.44 per cent, officials said on Wednesday. Of these 207 major dams, the Sardar Sarovar dam built over the Narmada river, which is considered the lifeline of the state, currently has 3.33 lakh million cubic feet (mcft) of water, which is 99.73 per cent of its total storage capacity, a release by the Gujarat government said. As per the government figures, 54 dams are 100 per cent full, 90 dams, including the Sardar Sarovar Dam, have a water stock of 70 to 100 per cent of their storage capacity, 29 dams are filled up 50 to 70 per cent, 23 dams are filled up 25 to 50 per cent, while 10 dams have water less than 25 per cent of their capacity. The Sardar Sarovar Dam in Gujarat reached its full reservoir level (FRL) of 138.68 metres for the first time this monsoon on Sunday morning, resulting in authorities opening 23 of the facility's 30 sluice gates to release excess water coming from the catchment areas in neighbouring Madhya Pradesh, officials said. More than 3,400 persons were killed and 2,700 injured in hit-and-run cases in Gujarat in the last three financial years, the state Assembly was informed on Thursday. A hit-and-run is an act of causing a collision and fleeing from the scene. As per data tabled in the House, 4,860 hit-and-run cases were reported in Gujarat. comprising 1,499 in 2020-21, a total of 1,591 in 2021-22 and 1,770 in 2022-23. In these 4,860 collisions, 3,449 persons have died, including 329 deaths in Ahmedabad district, and 2,720 persons were injured. As per the data, 1,069 died in financial year 2020-21, 1,158 in 2021-22 and 1,222 in 2022-23, which indicated a steady rise in such fatal road accidents. The Gujarat government sought compensation of Rs 700 crore from the Centre towards the damage caused by cyclone Biparjoy in June but didn't receive any grants as of July 31, Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel told the assembly on Wednesday.
