SC rejects plea against HC order dismissing PIL on Krishna Janmabhoomi

The Supreme Court on Friday rejected a plea challenging an Allahabad High Court order dismissing a PIL seeking a direction to the Uttar Pradesh government to acquire the Krishna Jahmabhoomi Janmasthan at Mathura and hand it over to the Hindus for worshipping Lord Krishna. "The issue is already pending before the high court. Lets not have multiplicity of litigation," a bench of Justices Sanjiv Khanna and Dipankar Datta said while dismissing the appeal against the October 11, 2023 order of the high court. Petitioner Mahek Maheshwari's counsel said the high court has dismissed the PIL on the ground that suits are pending. The bench said the petitioner had filed a PIL and that is why it was dismissed by the high court. "We are not inclined to interfere with the impugned judgement and hence the SLP is dismissed. We clarify that the dismissal of the SLP does not comment on the right of parties to challenge the vires of any enactment or prevents or bars any party from challenging the vire

'No place for hate in country,' Canada says amid online threats to Hindus

The Canadian government has said the circulation of an online video in which Hindu Canadians are told to leave the country is offensive and hateful, asserting that acts of aggression, hate, intimidation or incitement of fear have no place in Canada. The video was circulated amid escalating tensions between India and Canada following Prime Minister Justin Trudeau's explosive allegations of the "potential" involvement of Indian agents in the killing of Khalistani extremist Hardeep Singh Nijjar on his country's soil on June 18 in British Columbia. India had designated Nijjar as a terrorist in 2020. India has angrily rejected Turdeau's allegations as "absurd" and "motivated" and expelled a senior Canadian diplomat in a tit-for-tat move to Ottawa's expulsion of an Indian official over the case. Public Safety Canada, the department responsible for matters of public safety, emergency management, national security, and emergency preparedness, said the circulation of the video is offensive a

Ram Temple being built due to unity among Hindus: Senior RSS office-bearer

The RSS has united the Hindu community as a result of which, Ram Temple is being built in Ayodhya and Article 370 was abrogated in Jammu and Kashmir, the head of the Sangh's intellectual cell said on Friday. Swant Ranjan, the all-India Baudhik pramukh of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), made the remark while addressing the concluding ceremony of the 20-day 'Sangh Shiksha Varg' at Hindaun City in Karauli district. "The Sangh has ensured that the Hindu community is united. Due to this, Ram Temple is being built in Ayodhya and Article 370 has been abrogated in Jammu and Kashmir," a release issued by the RSS quoted Ranjan as saying. "... but there is a need to remove caste discrimination prevailing in the society," he added. The training camp was organised on the premises of Adarsh Vidya Mandir School. RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat visited the camp and stayed with the volunteers for three days.

Population of Muslims fast declining vis-a-vis Hindus, says Digvijaya

Senior Congress leader Digvijaya Singh on Thursday claimed that contrary to the BJP and the RSS's "false propaganda" that the population of Muslim community was increasing in the country, the number of the minority community members vis-a-vis Hindus was fast declining, and added that he could prove it. The ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) was quick to counter him as it accused him of indulging in politics of appeasement and giving false statements to divide the society. Singh made the claim here while replying to reporters' query about his party's stand on conducting a census. "The propaganda of BJP and Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) that Muslim population is increasing in the country is completely false, wrong and unverified, because the minority community's population is decreasing at a faster pace as compared to Hindus and I can prove it," Singh said. "My stand on the census is that it should be conducted and its results should come out on the basis of the Other Backward .
