A 45-year-old police constable died of a heart attack in the morning today while he was on his way to attend his sister's funeral in Pune, an official said. Vijay More was posted with Azad Maidan police station in south Mumbai since 2015, he added. More's sister had died in Pune yesterday and the constable, along with relatives, was on his way to the attend the funeral when he suffered a heart attack near Vashi in neighbouring Navi Mumbai, the official informed. More was rushed to a nearby hospital where authorities declared him dead on arrival, he said.
Lok Sabha Speaker Sumitra Mahajan today said Somnath Chatterjee was the first person to call her over phone when she was given this role and he was the one whom she would always call for guidance on how to run Parliament. Efforts will be made to accord Sanskrit the status of the second official language of Himachal Pradesh, a state minister said today. Himachal Urban Development minister Sarveen Choudhary said this at a function organised by Sanskrit Bharti Kangra at the Dhauladhar campus of Central University of Himachal Pradesh at Dharamshala in Kangra district. "Sanskrit is the mother of all tongues and this language is key to knowledge of all the subjects including science, mathematics, philosophy, literature, yoga and astrology," she said.
