Efforts will be made to accord Sanskrit the status of the second official language of Himachal Pradesh, a state minister said today.
Himachal Urban Development minister Sarveen Choudhary said this at a function organised by Sanskrit Bharti Kangra at the Dhauladhar campus of Central University of Himachal Pradesh at Dharamshala in Kangra district.
"Sanskrit is the mother of all tongues and this language is key to knowledge of all the subjects including science, mathematics, philosophy, literature, yoga and astrology," she said.
Moreover Sanskrit language is our cultural identity, she added.
