Demi Lovato still hospitalised, reportedly facing 'complications'

Demi Lovato is still recuperating at the hospital and she is reportedly said to be facing "complications" after she was admitted due to a suspected drug overdose. The 25-year-old singer was rushed to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center here after she was found unconscious at her home on July 24. Sources tell TMZ, Lovato has complications which include, extreme nausea and a high fever, among other things. Doctors have not decided when the singer would be discharged, but an insider said, "She is under the care of medical experts and is expected to make a full recovery." Lovato, who has struggled with substance abuse for years, revealed last month that she had relapsed just months after celebrating six years of sobriety. The cause of overdose is yet to be confirmed. Gopalkrishna Gandhi to get Rajiv Gandhi Sadbhavana Award

Former West Bengal governor Gopalkrishna Gandhi has been selected for this year's Rajiv Gandhi Sadbhavana Award for promoting communal harmony and peace. A decision in this regard was taken by the Advisory Committee of the award which met on July 28. "The Advisory Committee of the Rajiv Gandhi National Sadbhavana Award in its meeting held on 28th July, 2018 decided that the 24th Rajiv Gandhi National Sadbhavana Award be given to Gopalkrishna Gandhi for his outstanding contribution towards the promotion of communal harmony, peace and goodwill," member Secretary of the Committee Motilal Vora said in a statement. The award will be presented to Gopalkrishna Gandhi at a special ceremony on August 20 at Jawahar Bhawan. Prime Minister Narendra Modi today sought ideas from people for his Independence Day speech, a practice he has followed for the past three years. "What are your thoughts and ideas for my 15th August speech? Share them with me on a specially created forum on the Narendra Modi App," he tweeted. The PM said he looks forward to receiving people's "fruitful inputs" in the coming days. For the past three years, Modi has directly invited ideas and suggestions from people for his Independence Day speech. People can also share their ideas on MyGov portal. According to MyGov.in, PM Modi will pick up some of the ideas in his speech. Some of the suggestions already received on the website for the speech, include the ones on cases of rape, open defecation, reservation system and education. It would be Modi's fifth Independence Day speech.

'Unreasonable behaviour' is the most common ground that married couples cite to legally end their unions, a study conducted in the UK has found. Researchers from the University of Oxford analysed the changes in the main 'facts' that husbands and wives give for petitioning for divorce, since the UK Divorce Reform Act 1969 was implemented in 1971. The Act made the irretrievable breakdown of a marriage the sole ground for divorce, which can be established by 'proving' one or more 'facts' - though the 'fact' is not necessarily the cause of the breakdown. With the Kiki dance challenge fast spreading among youngsters, Uttar Pradesh police has issued a cautionary tweet highlighting the risks involved in such dares. Cash, gold worth Rs 3 lakh stolen from singer Mika Singh's

Bollywood singer Mika Singh has lodged a complaint of theft of cash and jewellery worth about Rs 3 lakh at his home here, a police official said today. Singh's manager approached the police on Sunday, complaining that Rs 1 lakh cash and 75 gm gold jewellery worth nearly Rs 2 lakh were stolen from the singer's residence in the western suburb of Oshiwara, senior police inspector Shailesh Pasalwad said. Based on the complaint, the Oshiwara police registered an offence against a piano artist, an associate of Singh and working with him since many years, he said. Police are analysing the CCTV footageof the singer's building where the associate was seen entering and leaving the premises at the suspected time of theft, another official said. A search was on for the suspect, he added.

'24' prequel series in works

Former "24" executive showrunner Howard Gordon is working with series co-creators Joel Surnow and Bob Cochran on a possible new iteration of the real-time drama. According to Variety, the project is in the early phases of development with no word yet on when, if ever, it will make it to air. It would mark the third time Fox has looked to re-launch the franchise. The original "24," which starred Kiefer Sutherland as Bauer, ran for eight seasons on Fox from 2002-2010. Fox then brought the show back with the limited series "24: Live Another Day" in 2014. Most recently, Corey Hawkins starred in "24: Legacy," playing a completely new character named Eric Carter. The prequel is one of two "24" reboot ideas that are being developed, along with a legal thriller written by Gordon and Jeremy Doner.

The Delhi Police today cautioned people against taking part in the viral 'Kiki' dance challenge inspired by a popular song of Canadian rapper Drake. As part of the dance challenge, people jump out of a slowly moving car and dance alongside it to Drake's song 'In my Feelings'. Posting a picture of a man dancing on the road along side an ambulance with its doors open, the Delhi Police tweeted, "Dancing on the roads can open new doors for you." "Dance on the floors, not on the roads! #KikiChallenge is not worth the fun.#InMyFeelings Keep #Delhi roads safe for all," it said. On July 26, the Mumbai Police had also warned people against taking part in the challenge and risking one's life and also the lives of others. Guj: Five drown in two separate incidents

Five people, including two children, drowned today in separate incidents in Gujarat, the police said. The incidents occurred in Ahmedabad city and Panchmahal district, they said. Krishna Sisodiya (7) and Shiva Marwadi (9) drowned after they entered a pond to take bath in Odhav area in Ahmedabad, a police official said. "The family members of the deceased said the boys had left their homes this morning, saying they were going to take bath in the pond. They drowned while taking bath," the official said. He said the bodies of the boys were fished out with the help of fire department personnel. Another incident occurred in Pavagadh in Panchmahal district, around 115 kms from here, police said. The mishap occurred after three friends from Vadodara entered Vad lake in Pavagadh, a famous tourist spot, for a swim, a local police official said. The deceased are identified as Tapan Shah (19), Vaibhav Mandavkar (21) and Gajmal Devra (57), he said.
