Cong ST cell to hold protest against proposed Aarey Colony zoo
The Scheduled Tribes (ST) cell of the Congress will Sunday hold a protest against the zoo that is proposed to be set up inside the Aarey Milk Colony in suburban Goregaon. Former Mumbai Congress chief Sanjay Nirupam and other party leaders will take part in the protest, to be held at the proposed site of the zoo. Call threatening to blow up BJP headquarters turns out to be a hoax
Security officials were thrown into a tizzy when a man from Mysore called up the BJP headquarters control room on Saturday morning and threatened to blow it up. The call, however, turned out to be a hoax."BJP headquarters control room received a hoax bomb call today. Delhi Police is conducting an investigation. The caller has been traced to Mysore in Karnataka," DCP Central, Delhi Police told ANI.A team of police officials under Rajiv Gunawat, SHO IP Estate, visited the BJP headquarters at Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Marg and took stock of the situation.The caller was traced as some "miscreant" from Mysore. After the preliminary enquiries, the call was found to be a hoax, a senior police official said.The official said that Karnataka police has been informed about the incident and they are taking all legal actions.

Delhi University issues guidelines, venue details for sports trials
Delhi University Friday issued guidelines and venue details for the trials for the aspirants seeking admission under sports category. The sports trials will commence from July 2 and culminate on July 6. There are 27 sports that are part of the sports quota. These include 24 sports that are part of various high-profile competitions like Olympics, Commonwealth Games, Asian Games and three popular sports. The sports trial for athletics will happen at the University Polo ground in Kingsway Camp on July 2, the varsity said. The sports trial for women football will also happen on July 2 at the Rugby Stadium Sports Complex in North Campus whereas for male aspirants it will be held on July 4. Man who hacked woman at Chennai suburban station succumbs to
A man, who hacked and injured a woman at a suburban railway station here a week ago and inflicted wounds on himself, died at a hospital here Friday, police said. The man, who was in coma, did not respond to treatment and died around noon, a Government Railway Police officer told PTI. Last Friday night, the man had hacked the woman with a sickle at the Chetpet railway station after having heated arguments over his proposal to marry her. The accused then injured himself with the same weapon, before jumping on the railway track, police had said. Both of them, natives of Erode and knew each other, were admitted to two separate government hospitals. The woman was still undergoing treatment, the officer said. The incident, which brought back memories of the murder of a young woman techie in 2016 in Nungambakkam railway station here, stunned people on the platform.

Japanese Emperor Naruhito's younger brother said Friday that the royal family can perform only a limited number of duties because its membership is declining sharply. Maha: Rise in infant deaths in 3 yrs, 16,539 dead in 2018-19
The number of infant deaths in Maharashtra has risen over the last three years, with 16,539 newborns losing their lives in 2018-19 alone, the state government admitted in the Legislative Assembly on Friday. In a written reply, Health Minister Eknath Shinde said these infant deaths were caused due to infection, pneumonia, less weight and breathing defect at birth and not because of lack of facilities like incubators, ventilators or expert medical attention. As per the report of the Health Management Information System (HMIS), 16,539 newborn babies died in 2018-19, he said. In 2016-17, the number of infant deaths was 10,384, while it was 13,069 in 2017-18, the minister said. As per the HMIS report, in April-August 2017, Solapur district alone witnessed deaths of 309 infants. Shinde said the state government has now set the target of bringing down the infant mortality rate to 10 per 1,000 live births by 2030. Wing Commander G M Charles cremated with full military honours
Wing Commander G M Charles, who piloted the AN-32 aircraft which crashed in Arunachal Pradesh on June 3, was cremated with full military honours in the presence of senior officials of the Indian Air Force and district administration here on Friday. BCCI ethics officer and former Supreme Court judge D K Jain on Friday said former or active players commentating during tournaments could also amount to conflict of interest (COI) as 'one person one vote' is the soul of Lodha reforms. After passing the order on Sourav Ganguly and VVS Laxman's COI, Jain said the two famed cricketers can only choose one of the multiple roles they are performing at the moment. Author Amish Tripathi has been named the director of London's Nehru Centre, which is under the Indian Council for Cultural Relations, a senior ICCR official said. Author of best-selling books like the Secret of the Nagas and Sita - Warrior of Mithila, Tripathi will take over from diplomat Srinivas Gotru. Gotru's four-year tenure ended early this year. Tripathi was appointed after he applied for the post followed by an interview with a selection panel, ICCR president Vinay Sahasrabudhe has said. The Nehru Centre was founded in 1992 with Gopalkrishna Gandhi as its founder director. Playwright-actor Girish Karnad was among the prominent people to have helmed the centre.

Guinness holder Retired Subedar-Major Azad Singh Shekhawat set a world record by doing Yoga and balancing a football on his head for four hours.Shekhawat performed various asanas on the occasion of 'Yoga Day'."Yoga helps in curing all sorts of diseases and everybody should have to do it," Shekhawat said.Earlier, Shekhawat had registered records in the Limca Book, Asia Book and India book for cycling 103 kilometres while holding a bottle on his head.After that, he built a world record for walking 45 kilometres with football on his head, which found a way in the Guinness Book of World Records.He also achieved a feat of 100-meter run with football on his head.He added that he will go back to his home in Jaipur by cycling and holding football on his head.
