Govt launches diabetes drug Sitagliptin, its combinations at Rs 60 per pack

The government on Friday launched diabetes drug Sitagliptin and its combinations at rates as low as Rs 60 per pack of ten, which will be sold at generic pharmacy stores, Janaushadhi Kendras. The Pharmaceuticals & Medical Devices Bureau of India (PMBI) has included new variants of Sitagliptin and its combination across its Jan Aushdhi Kendras, the Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilisers said in a statement. The maximum retail price for a pack of ten Sitagliptin phosphate tablets 50 mg is Rs 60, while the same for Sitagliptin phosphate tablet 100 mg is Rs 100. Combination of Sitagliptin and Metformin Hydrochloride tablets of 50mg/500mg is priced at Rs 65 for a pack of ten and Sitagliptin Metformin hydrochloride tablets of 50mg/1000mg strength comes for Rs 70 for the same quantity. "All these variants are available at 60 per cent to 70 per cent lesser prices than branded variants as they are available in price band of Rs 162 to Rs 258 at other medical stores," the statement said. More firms to have reduced compliance burden as govt revises norms

The government has revised the paid-up capital and turnover thresholds for small companies that will help reduce the compliance burden on more entities. The latest decision by the corporate affairs ministry, which is implementing the companies law, has again revised the definition of small companies and is aimed at further improving the ease of doing business. With the amendments to certain rules, the threshold for small companies' paid-up capital has been increased to "not exceeding Rs 4 crore" from "not exceeding Rs 2 crore". Similarly, the turnover threshold has been revised to "not exceeding Rs 40 crore" from "not exceeding Rs 20 crore", the ministry said in a release on Friday. The revisions will allow more entities to come under the category of small companies. According to the ministry, small companies are exempted from the requirement to prepare cash flow statement as part of financial statement and can file an abridged annual return.
