RVNL's order book touches Rs 65,000-cr mark, plans to add foreign projects

Public Sector Undertaking RVNL's order book has touched Rs 65,000 crore, 50 per cent of which are railway projects, the company has said. RVNL is also looking for new projects in off-shore markets including Central Asia and UAE and Western Asia, the management said in an investors call. "We have got an order book of around Rs 65,000 crore, which roughly constitutes 50 per cent from the nomination, that is the typical railway projects, and 50 per cent from the market. In time to come, we should maintain an order book of around Rs 75,000 crore," top management officials said in reply to a question. Of the total order book, the share of the Vande Bharat trains was around Rs 9,000 crore, and Rs 7,000 crore was for several metro projects. The company has also bagged projects in the electrification and transmission lines among others. Tripura CM flags off 'Aastha' train with 400 pilgrims onboard to Ayodhya

A special "Aastha" train carrying around 400 pilgrims to Ayodhya in Uttar Pradesh has been flagged off from Tripura.Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha flagged off the train from Agartala Railway Station on Wednesday.Devotees have been visiting Ayodhya in large numbers after the Pran Pratishtha at the Ram temple there on January 22.Saha, while speaking to ANI, said that an atmosphere of spirituality has been created throughout the country since the inauguration of the Ram Temple in Ayodhya."This is the first time from Tripura that such a large number of people are going together to the holy spot. RCF to roll out first prototype of Vande Metro coach by April: S Srinivas

The Rail Coach Factory (RCF) in Kapurthala in Punjab is aiming to roll out the first prototype of Vande Metro coach for intercity travel ?by April this year, its general manager S Srinivas has said. A total of 16 such coaches are expected to be ready by the later part of 2024-25 financial year, he said. Vande Metro, which is designed on the concept of India's first indigenous semi-high-speed train Vande Bharat, will cater to intercity passengers covering up to a distance of 250 km. A Vande Metro train will have 16 air-conditioned coaches and can run at a maximum speed of 130 km per hour. "This train is meant for intercity traffic," Srinivas told PTI, adding, "We are aiming that the first prototype is ready by April." Following trials, the RCF will start its production. Railways lost Rs 25.5 cr due to injudicious procurement: Parl panel

Injudicious procurement of an additional CNC horizontal boring and milling machine by Patiala Locomotive Works cost a financial loss of Rs 25.43 crore to the Railways, the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) has said in its report in the Lok Sabha. The PAC, in its report tabled in the Lok Sabha on Wednesday, carried out a detailed examination based on the CAG report, which was laid on the table of the House on December 21, 2022. Titled "Injudicious procurement of an additional CNC horizontal boring and milling machine: Patiala Locomotive Works", the report recommends the ministry to establish a mechanism for periodic review of procurement policies in line with evolving directives to prevent recurrence of such infructuous expenditure in future. Two bogies of Kannur-Alappuzha Executive Express derail, train delayed

Two bogies of the Kannur-Alappuzha Executive Express derailed near Kannur railway station during the shunting process on Saturday morning, causing a one-hour delay in the train's departure, railway sources said here. The incident took place at 4.40 am as the train was being brought to the platform, with no passengers on board. The derailment occurred in the rearmost two bogies, damaging the signal box in the process. Fortunately, since the incident happened on a track parallel to the main track, other train services were unaffected, they said. The train journey proceeded after the derailed bogies were separated. Railway officials are currently conducting an inquiry to determine the cause of the derailment.

Train services affected as protestors block railway tracks in Jalpaiguri

Train services were affected as members of the All Kamtapur Students' Union (AKSU) blocked the railway tracks in West Bengal's Jalpaiguri district on Friday morning to press for their demand for a separate state. The blockade at the Betgara station in the New Jalpaiguri-New Bongaigaon section of the Northeast Frontier Railway began at 7 am, officials said. The blockade has disrupted train services on the all-important route. Among the trains affected were the New Jalpaiguri-Guwahati Vande Bharat Express, they said. Officers of the RPF and the state police were talking to the protestors, and trying to persuade them to remove the blockade, they added. The protesters said the blockade would continue till 7 pm, but railway officials said they were hopeful of an earlier resumption of services. Jupiter Wagons bags contract to make double-decker automobile carriers

Mobility solutions provider Jupiter Wagons on Friday said it has secured a "significant" contract from a leading automobile maker for manufacturing four rakes of double-decker automobile carrier worth around Rs 100 crore.
