An Indore-bound Air India flight returned to the city on Sunday shortly after take off as the pilot received a "fire indication" in the right engine of the aircraft, the airline said. The aircraft has been grounded for inspection, and passengers are being transferred to an alternative aircraft which will operate the flight to Indore shortly, Air India said. "Flight AI2913, operating from Delhi to Indore on August 31, air-returned to Delhi shortly after take off, as the cockpit crew received a fire indication for the right engine," the Tata Group-owned airline said without divulging further details. Following standard procedure, the cockpit crew elected to shut down the engine and returned to Delhi where the flight landed safely, it said. The air safety regulator Directorate General of Civil Aviation has been duly informed of the incident, the airline said.
The authorities in Madhya Pradesh's financial capital Indore have banned the sale of meat completely on certain days of the upcoming festivals celebrated by Hindus and Jains, the city Mayor has said. In a statement on Tuesday, Indore Mayor Pushyamitra Bhargava said the sale of meat will be completely banned in the city on Ganesh Chaturthi (August 27), Dol Gyaras (September 3), Anant Chaturdashi (September 6) celebrated by Hindus, and Paryushan festival of Jains. He said, I have instructed the municipal corporation officials to ensure strict compliance of this ban. Appropriate action will be taken against those who violate the ban. Officials said many people from the Hindu and Jain communities had sought a ban on the sale of meat during the festive period to safeguard their religious sentiments.

A "minor technical snag" was detected in an IndiGo flight from Indore to Bhubaneswar carrying 140 persons, due to which it took off about an hour late from its scheduled time on Monday, the airport officials here said. Pilots of the IndiGo flight number '6E 6332' noticed a technical snag when the plane was heading towards the runway for take-off, Devi Ahilyabai Holkar Airport director Vipin Kant Seth told PTI. The plane was brought back to the apron. After engineers rectified the "minor technical snag", the flight left for its destination, he said. "Passengers were not de-boarded during the repair work," Seth said, without giving specific details of the technical glitch. The Madhya Pradesh High Court has allowed the National Testing Agency (NTA) to declare the results of the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET-UG) for undergraduate medical courses, except for 11 centres in Indore which had faced power outage on May 4. On Thursday, in response to a petition by a student who claimed her performance in the entrance exam on May 4 was severely impacted by a power outage at her exam centre in Indore, the court had directed that the results should not be declared until the next hearing. The petitioner prayed that she be allowed to appear for the examination again. On Friday, Justice Subodh Abhyankar modified the order after hearing submissions of Solicitor General of India Tushar Mehta and Deputy Solicitor General Himanshu Joshi. People were evacuated from the Holkar Stadium in Madhya Pradesh's Indore after the premises received a fresh bomb threat on Monday, police said. This is the second time in three days that the stadium has received a bomb threat, an official said. "We received information from the Madhya Pradesh Cricket Association (MPCA) office that they had received an email threatening to blow up the Holkar Stadium," Tukoganj police station in-charge Jitendra Singh Yadav told PTI. The Holkar Stadium in Indore received a bomb blast threat, with the unidentified sender of an e-mail warning of retaliation in response to Operation Sindoor, police said on Saturday. The threat turned out to be a hoax. "MPCA's (Madhya Pradesh Cricket Association) official email (ID) on Friday received a threatening message. The email, written in English, mentions that the stadium will be blasted due to 'Operation Sindoor' (of Indian armed forces)," Tukoganj police station in-charge Jitendra Singh Yadav told PTI. After being alerted by MPCA, four teams of police personnel and a bomb squad thoroughly searched the stadium's premises for five hours.
