An attorney for an adult film star claiming a sexual encounter with President Donald Trump is seeking to depose the president and his attorney. Michael Avenatti filed the motion in federal court in California. In the documents, dated today, he seeks to depose Trump and Trump attorney Michael Cohen about a USD 130,000 payment made to Stormy Daniels days before the 2016 presidential election. Avenatti wants to question each for "no more than two hours." In the filing, he says the depositions are needed to establish if Trump knew about the payment and if he consented to it. Cohen has said he paid the USD130,000 out of his own pocket, while asserting Trump never had sex with the porn actress. A hearing is set for April 30.
A 12-year-old boy was allegedly hacked to death today by unidentified persons on the premises of the Zilla Parishad school in Nandeli village in the district, police said. The incident occurred this morning when the boy, identified as Suraj Bhoir, was relieving himself in an under-construction structure on the premises of the school, a police official said. The deceased was class 4 student of the same school. According to police, the boy was attacked with an axe on his neck and hips. The victim's body was sent to the government hospital for postmortem. Additional SP, Thane, Prashant Kadam said the motive behind the killing is not known immediately. Nobody is arrested so far, he said.

Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb today told the Assembly that no elected public representative resigned under pressure in the state after the BJP-Indigenous Peoples Front of Tripura came to power this month. Making a statement on a matter of public importance raised by opposition CPI(M) MLA Sudhan Das, Deb said that 16 elected public representatives resigned in different civic bodies, including the municipal councils and nagar panchayats, due to illness, personal reasons and family affairs since March 7. On the other hand, 166 elected representatives from different gram panchayats, 2 representatives from panchayat samities and nine representatives in village committees in Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC) had resigned since March 3 on the same grounds. Four members of a gang were arrested by the Uttar Pradesh Special Task Force (STF) for remotely accessing computers of candidates during online competitive exams and solving their papers, an official release said today. The four accused, identified as Sonu Kumar, Ajay Kumar, Paramjeet Singh and Gaurav Naiyar, arrested from Timarpur, New Delhi allegedly used to charge hefty amount of money from candidates, the release said. The accused were allegedly helping candidates appearing for online exams including the SSC and others. According to the release, a number of laptops, bluetooth devices, pen drives, three cars and over Rs 51 lakh cash were recovered from their possession. The gang used computer tools to remotely access computer of the candidates at examination centres and get the papers solved from other places through their laptops, the STF said. The matter is being investigated for further details, they added.
A local court has sentenced a Rohingya migrant and an Indian national to simple imprisonment for up to two years for the offences of cheating and forgery after the former managed to get an Aadhaar card by submitting fake documents . The migrant, Mohammad Taher alias Abu Taher from Myanmar, with the help of B Hemanth, an Indian national, had procured an Aadhaar card illegally by submitting false ID proof and was staying in the city, Rachakonda Commissioner of Police Mahesh M Bhagwat said today, adding "this is the first case of conviction of a Rohingya migrant who was illegally staying in the city". The XIV Metropolitan Magistrate Court yesterday convicted the two after they were found guilty of charges under relevant IPC sections and under the Foreigners Act, Bhagwat said. A driver of a local body member in Bhoopalapally District of Telangana was today arrested on the charge of 'unauthorisedly' carrying a pistol at the Metro Rail Station in Uppal here, police said. Security staff at the station last night found T Sathish Kumar in 'possession' of the liecensed pistol of Kataram Zilla Parishad Territorial Constituency member Challa Narayan Reddy, they said. Following a complaint by them, police registered a case against Kumar under the Arms Act and arrested him today. During his questioning, he told police that Reddy had gone to Pune for business purpose and the weapon was handed over to him. Markets regulator Sebi today said the probe into alleged lapses in high-frequency trading offered through NSE's co-location facility is in advanced stage. The regulator is probing allegations related to unfair access to NSE's high frequency trading systems to some brokers. The exchange's Rs 10,000 crore IPO has been delayed because of the probe and the regulator had earlier issued show cause notices to several individuals and the exchange while also probing the role of some brokers. When asked about NSE's co-location issue, Sebi Chairman Ajay Tyagi said,"we are in the advanced stage of investigation". Earlier this month, the National Stock Exchange (NSE) said Sebi had returned its consent application in the case due to the ongoing investigation. The Madras High Court today set aside a 2014 Income Tax department order declaring Kalanithi Maran as the principal officer of the low-cost carrier SpiceJet and making him liable for the alleged tax dues of the company when it was owned by him. Justice M Duraiswamy allowed a petition by Maran challenging the November 3, 2014 order of the I-T department related to various financial years when the company was under his ownership. The I-T department had not produced any material to establish that Maran was responsible for the day-to-day affairs of the SpiceJet, the judge said in his order.
