The Pune Police has registered a First Information Report (FIR) against four Army personnel for allegedly raping and molesting a speech-impaired woman in a Military Hospital premise here.The victim approached a Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO) in Indore with her complaint following which it was reported to the police. A court in Thailand has sentenced a former Buddhist monk known for his jet-set lifestyle to 16 years in prison for raping a 13-year-old girl who he also impregnated. Wirapol Sukphol became infamous when he appeared in a 2013 YouTube video in his monk's robe aboard a private jet wearing aviator sunglasses with a Louis Vuitton carry-on by his side. On Wednesday, the Ratchada Criminal Court handed Wirapol two eight-year prison terms, one for violating a minor under 15 and another for rape. Wirapol is already serving a lengthy prison sentence. A Pakistani serial killer was executed at a prison here on Wednesday after a court dismissed a petition for his public hanging filed by the father of a seven-year-old girl, who was raped and murdered by the convict. Imran Ali, who was convicted for the rape and murder of the minor girl in the city of Kasur, some 50-km from Lahore earlier this year, was hanged to death this morning in Kot Lakhpat Central Jail. Absconding industrialist Vinay Mittal, who was wanted in bank frauds worth around Rs 40 crore, has been extradited to India from Indonesia's Bali on the request of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).The extradition was initiated after the Interpol had earlier issued a Red Corner Notice against Mittal on the CBI's request.Mittal was arrested by Indonesian authorities in January 2017 based on the Red Corner Notice and his extradition was cleared by the Indonesian authorities recently.A case was registered against Mittal in 2014 and 2016 on the request of Corporation Bank and the Punjab National Bank. Police Tuesday arrested four members of a gang here for allegedly assaulting an employee of a private finance firm and robbing him of Rs 4.75 lakh. The employee, who was working with the finance firm in Maduranthakam in neighbouring Tamil Nadu, was on his routine visit to Puducherry to collect money from borrowers Monday. When the employee was driving along the Ellaipillaichavady road, the four-member gang waylaid him. The gang attacked him with sharp-edged weapons and robbed him of the cash bag containing Rs 4.75 lakh he had collected from the borrowers, police said. The victim filed a complaint with the nearest police station. Based on the CCTV footage, police traced the accused and arrested them. Search is on for the fifth accused, they said. With the arrest of a woman and her four aides here, the Noida police Tuesday claimed to have busted a gang of drug traffickers operating in the Delhi-National Capital Region (NCR).
