Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be on a day-long visit to Madhya Pradesh on June 27 during which he will flag off five Vande Bharat trains and launch the National Sickle Cell Anaemia Elimination Mission, his office said on Monday. The prime minister will reach Rani Kamalapati railway station around 10:30 am and flag off five Vande Bharat trains, a statement issued by the Prime Minister's Office (PMO) said. Modi will attend a public programme in Shahdol district around 3 pm. He will honour Rani Durgavati, who ruled Gondwana in the mid-16th century; launch the National Sickle Cell Anaemia Elimination Mission and kickstart distribution of Ayushman cards. He will also visit Pakaria village in Shahdol, according to the statement. The five Vande Bharat trains that Modi will flag off are -- Rani Kamalapati-Jabalpur Vande Bharat Express, Khajuraho-Bhopal-Indore Vande Bharat Express, Madgaon (Goa)-Mumbai Vande Bharat Express, Dharwad-Bengaluru Vande Bharat Express, and Hatia-Patna Vande .

Two persons were killed and more than 10 others injured when a speeding private bus overturned in Madhya Pradesh's Morena district, police said on Monday. The accident took place at around 9 pm on Sunday near Sikroda bridge between Joura and Kailaras towns when the bus was going to Sabalgarh from Morena, according to an official. The bus driver lost control over the wheels at a road turn following which the vehicle overturned in a pit, Joura police station in-charge OP Rawat said. Two passengers died on the spot, he said. More than 10 others were injured and undergoing treatment at a hospital in Kailaras, he said. Two of the seriously injured passengers were shifted to Morena for further treatment, the official said.

Goods worth lakhs of rupees was gutted in a massive fire at a vegetable-fruit market in Indore city of Madhya Pradesh on Wednesday afternoon, police said. There was no report of any casualty in the incident that occurred at the Devi Ahilyabai Holkar market around 1 pm, they said. According to eyewitnesses, some empty boxes of mangoes caught fire due to a short circuit in an electric pole inside the market located at Choithram Square in the city, and the blaze soon spread. "The fire was brought under control after hours of efforts and there was no report of any casualty," Superintendent of Police (Fire) Padmavilochan Shukla said. Apart from the goods kept in the shops, the cabin of a goods-carrying vehicle was damaged in the fire, another police official said. There has been a 75 per cent rise in the number of places using solar panels to generate electricity in the western part of Madhya Pradesh over a period of one year, an official from a power distribution company said on Tuesday. Electricity was being generated from solar panels at 4,900 places in 15 districts of western Madhya Pradesh in May-June last year, while this number has now increased to 8,550, the spokesperson of Madhya Pradesh western Region Power Distribution Company said. At present, solar panels have been installed at 8,550 places, which include hospitals, government offices and other premises, besides residences, he said. Solar panels of total 110 MW are installed at these locations, from which electricity worth at least Rs 5 crore is being generated every month this summer.
