Zydus Lifesciences Q2 result: Net profit rises 13.8% to Rs 911.2 crore

Zydus Lifesciences Ltd on Tuesday reported a 13.8 per cent rise in consolidated net profit at Rs 911.2 crore in the second quarter ended September 30, 2024. The company had posted a consolidated net profit of Rs 800.7 crore in the corresponding period of the last fiscal year, Zydus Lifesciences Ltd said in a regulatory filing. Consolidated revenue from operations stood at Rs 5,237 crore, as compared to Rs 4,368.8 crore in the year-ago period, it added. "Sustained growth momentum across our businesses along with enhanced profitability drove our strong Q2 performance. Execution success of our differentiated pipeline in the US and outperformance of our India geography business were particularly noteworthy," Zydus Lifesciences Managing Director Sharvil Patel said. Karnataka HC grants interim bail to actor Darshan citing medical grounds

The Karnataka High Court on Wednesday granted interim bail to actor Darshan Thoogudeepa, who is an accused in Renukaswamy murder case, on medical grounds, to undergo spine surgery. The bench of Justice S Vishwajith Shetty granted interim bail for a period of six weeks to undergo medical treatment. The court had reserved the order on Tuesday on the bail application after hearing detailed arguments from the actor's legal representative, senior advocate C V Nagesh, and State Public Prosecutor P Prasanna Kumar. The state had presented medical reports in a sealed cover from doctors at Ballari Central Prison, where he is lodged, and the Head of the Department of Neurology at a government hospital in Ballari. Darshan was arrested on June 11 and is lodged in Ballari Prison. His bail application, submitted on September 21, was rejected by a sessions court. All doctors to have unique IDs; NMC starts registration on its new portal

The National Medical Commission (NMC) has initiated the process of registration of all MBBS doctors eligible to practice in India on a recently launched portal, as a part of which all medical practitioners will have a unique ID. The National Medical Register (NMR) is a dynamic database and will be a central repository of all registered doctors, in which their authenticity is verified by Aadhaar IDs. "The NMR is ready for registration of registered medical practitioners (RMPs) with immediate effect," Dr B Srinivas, Secretary of the NMC said. All the MBBS doctors who are registered on Indian Medical Register (IMR) have to register again on the NMR, the NMC said in a public notice recently, and added that all medical colleges/institutions, state medical councils (SMCs) are inter-linked on the portal. The Indian Army has launched a first-of-its-kind skin bank facility that aims to revolutionise the treatment of severe burn injuries and other skin-related conditions for service personnel and their families. The defence ministry in a statement on Tuesday said the skin bank will be staffed by a team of highly-trained medical professionals, including plastic surgeons, tissue engineers and specialised technicians. The Army Hospital (Research and Referral) here announced the opening of the skin bank facility, a first-of-its-kind to be established within the Armed Forces Medical Services, it said. "This landmark initiative aims to revolutionise the treatment of severe burn injuries and other skin-related conditions among service members and their families," the statement said. This bank will serve as a centralised hub for the collection, processing, storage and distribution of skin grafts, providing a "critical resource" for military medical centres across the country, officials said.
