Former Mumbai Indians coach Mark Boucher feels the torrid time endured by Hardik Pandya in the last IPL season added to his already tough character and the "battle-hardened" all-rounder will be at his best in the upcoming edition. It was a turbulent last season for Pandya after he replaced Rohit Sharma as MI skipper. The decision didn't go well with MI fans and they booed the all-rounder at the Wankhede Stadium at every opportunity. The results also didn't go in his favour as MI finished last in the points table. But things have changed since then and Pandya is expected to get the support of the fans after playing a vital role in India's T20 World Cup and Champions Trophy triumphs. "It was really tough for him (Pandya) last season. He was being booed by the crowd every time he took the field, he deserves better, he deserves 100 per cent respect," said Boucher, a JioStar expert for the league starting on Saturday. "A cricketers never wants such a thing to happen with him. But he is

Mumbai Indians head coach Mahela Jayawardene did not give a time frame for Jasprit Bumrah's return to competitive cricket, and said the pace spearhead's absence will be a massive challenge for his side in the IPL 2025. Bumrah will miss a few initial games of the tournament as he is currently recuperating from a back injury at the BCCI Centre of Excellence at Bengaluru. Jasprit Bumrah is at the NCA. We have to wait and see their feedback on him. At the moment it is going well, the progress is on a day to day basis, said Jayawardene during MI's pre-season press meet here on Wednesday. He is in good spirits, and not having him is a challenge. He is the best bowler in the world, he added.. Bumrah has been sidelined since the final Test against Australia at Sydney in early January, when he could not bowl in the second innings as the hosts chased down 162 to seal a 3-1 series victory. Bumrah's return is shrouded in uncertainty but MI skipper Hardik Pandya said having an experienced ...
Mumbai Indians captain Hardik Pandya on Wednesday said now that the contentious Impact Player rule has been extended by three years, a cricketer has to be a pure all-rounder to find place in the starting eleven. The rule allows a team to replace a player from their playing XI at a later stage of the match. The teams bring in a batting or bowling specialist as the situation demands. The BCCI extended the rule to at least the 2027 edition despite reservations from leading Indian players, including Rohit Sharma who said the Impact Player strategy was holding back the development of Indian all-rounders with teams replacing them with an extra batter or bowler during the game. "In the current scenario, it becomes difficult if you are not completely a 50-50 all-rounder to find your place. Going forward this can change or will change, we will have to see. But yes, definitely if you want to encourage more all-rounders they will need a fix spot for them to develop over the years," said Pandya
Hardik was slapped with a Rs 30 lakh fine along with his suspension. This means Mumbai will be without their two key players - Jasprit Bumrah and Hardik Pandya

Mumbai Indians head coach Charlotte Edwards said the early wickets of Delhi Capitals' skipper Meg Lanning and opener Shafali Verma helped her team win the Women's Premier League final here. Lanning (13) and Shafali (4) departed with just 17 runs on the board as DC ended up at 141 for nine while chasing 150. 150, we knew we were a little bit light, but in a final, it's always worth a little bit more. Shafali didn't come out like she normally does, and I knew straightaway that potentially we were in with a chance, because if we could get her wicket, Edwards said in the post-match press conference on Saturday night. Edwards said the Capitals were a bit cagey in their chase, and it made things easier for her side. It probably fell in our hands a little bit that we were a bit short, and potentially they went about it a bit slower than they normally do. The opening partnership of Lanning and Shafali has been our curse over the last few years, if I'm honest, so I was really pleased to se
Delhi Capitals head coach Jonathan Batty says maybe the occasion got to the players as his team lost its third straight final in the Women's Premier League. Delhi Capitals should have chased down 150 against Mumbai Indians but fell short by eight runs on Saturday night. They had lost to RCB last season and Mumbai the year before. "Everyone's hurting a huge amount at the moment. I think 99 percent of the time you back yourself to chase 150 on that wicket there. Big match finals, maybe the occasion just got to the players but full credit to Mumbai Indians for the way they defended that total. "They made it really hard for us and we were never ahead in the chase. We were in the game all the way through, just couldn't get over the line," said Batty in the post-match media interaction. The head coach insisted that the players did not carry baggage of the past going into another final. "The girls have been really positive, I can't fault them. There has been no negative talk at all like
