Naidu confident of regaining Andhra Pradesh with overwhelming majority

TDP supremo N Chandrababu Naidu has said the anti-incumbency wave coupled with failure of all institutional frameworks will ensure his party sweeps both assembly and Lok Sabha elections in Andhra Pradesh as people have 'realised' the ruling YSR Congress has failed to live up to all its promises. The former Chief Minister who is fighting to regain power in the state, expressed confidence that the TDP-BJP-Jana Sena Party (JSP) combine will win 24 out of 25 Lok Sabha seats and 160 of the 175 assembly seats comfortably in the simultaneous elections to be held on May 13. Naidu (74) said the YSRCP came to power on the promise of getting a special status to AP but the issue has been relegated to the background as people are struggling to deal with alleged mismanagement of every government department. The state has gone into huge financial debt to an extent that people have not received salaries and pensions, he added. "There is a tremendous anti-incumbency. YSR Congress has destroyed the

TDP, BJP, Janasena use political power to serve people: Chandrababu Naidu

TDP chief N Chandrababu Naidu on Wednesday said the NDA alliance of the TDP, BJP and Janasena uses political power to serve people while the YSRCP chief uses it as a license to "exploit and loot public wealth". The TDP chief made these allegations at the Tanuku town in the West Godavari district as part of an election canvassing public meeting, featuring Janasena chief Pawan Kalyan and others. Power is for serving the public for the TDP, Jana Sena and BJP while it is looting for Chief Minister Jagan Mohan Reddy, who has exploited his power as a license to loot public wealth, said Naidu. According to Naidu, Reddy is the only person who has prospered in the state in the past five years and he asked people whether they want the "destructive" rule of Reddy or the development of the state through the NDA. Asserting that the NDA will return to power at the Centre, he said the agenda of all the three partners is common - welfare, development and upholding democratic values. Terming Kalya

Further, Naidu noted that the time has come to put an end to the alleged wicked and cruel force of the YSRCP, claiming that everybody, including farmers who are "not getting even the subsidies and minimum support price for any farm product", is ready to defeat the ruling party. Andhra HC grants bail to Chandrababu Naidu in Skill Development scam case

The Andhra Pradesh High Court on Monday granted regular bail to TDP chief N Chandrababu Naidu in the Skill Development Corporation scam case. The court converted Naidu's four-week interim medical bail into absolute bail and ordered the former chief minister's release on regular bail. "The interim bail granted to A37 (Naidu) dated October 31 is made absolute, and the petitioner (Naidu) is ordered to be released on regular bail on the bail bond already furnished by him," the court said in its order. Andhra HC rejects CID's plea to allow two DSPs to monitor Chandrababu

The Andhra Pradesh High Court on Friday rejected the CID's interim application to depute two DSP rank officers to tag along with TDP chief N Chandrababu Naidu while he is out on medical bail, so that they can monitor his activities and submit reports to the court regularly. The court however reiterated the bail conditions it imposed. Rejecting the CID plea, the high court said that interim bail granted on health grounds should not be equated to a custodial bail. Additional Advocate General P Sudhakar Reddy represented the CID while D Srinivas argued on behalf of Naidu. The court agreed with Naidu's lawyer's argument that assigning two DSPs to the former CM's residence would constitute a breach of his right to privacy. However, the court directed the TDP supremo to abstain from making any public comments related to the Skill Development Corporation Scam case or organise or participate in any public rally and meetings. T'gana polls: With an eye on TDP vote share, parties shower praise on Naidu

As the Telugu Desam Party decided not to contest the upcoming assembly polls in Telangana, political parties in the state are trying to woo the party's sympathisers by showering praise on TDP supremo N Chandrababu Naidu who was released from a prison recently. Naidu walked out of the Rajamahendravaram central prison on October 31 after spending 53 days in connection with a case of alleged misappropriation of funds from the Skill Development Corporation, which resulted in a purported loss of over Rs 300 crore to the state exchequer. The TDP, which polled over 3.5 per cent votes and won two seats in the 2018 assembly elections in Telangana, has decided not to contest in the polls for reasons unknown. BRS Minister P Ajay Kumar who is contesting from Khammam, which is close to Andhra Pradesh border, had said he condemned Naidu's "illegal" arrest on September 14 itself. Describing the former chief minister as a national leader, Kumar said the arrest is not fair in politics. "My father

AP Police asked not to arrest Naidu till verdict in Skill Development scam

The Supreme Court on Friday asked the Andhra Pradesh Police not to arrest TDP chief N Chandrababu Naidu in the FibreNet case till it delivers verdict on the plea in the Skill Development scam case. A bench of Justices Aniruddha Bose and Bela M Trivedi listed the anticipatory bail of Naidu in the FibreNet Case for hearing on November 9 and told the Andhra Pradesh Police, "Let the earlier understanding continue." The bench was referring to the statement of the Andhra Pradesh Police on October 13, when it had said that police will not take Naidu into custody. Justice Bose said since the order is reserved on another plea, it would be appropriate if the court takes up the instant plea of Naidu after the verdict is delivered. Senior advocate Siddharth Luthra, appearing for Naidu, said police are looking to take him into custody in FibreNet case despite the fact that he is already in custody in the Skill Development scam case.
