Chirag Paswan accuses his uncle Pashupati Paras of tarnishing NDA's image

Former Lok Janshakti Party president Chirag Paswan on Sunday charged his uncle and Union minister Pashupati Kumar Paras with tarnishing the image of the NDA by questioning his entry into the BJP-led coalition. Talking to reporters here late in the evening, Chirag reminded his uncle of the welcome accorded to him by Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the recent NDA meeting in Delhi. It is bewildering to hear him making such statements barely a few days after I was hugged by the PM in front of all. Such utterances give a bad name to the coalition, said Chirag, who is engaged in a tussle with his uncle to claim the legacy of his late father Ram Vilas Paswan. The prime minister had been a pillar of support when I was going through a hard phase following the death of my father. This is the reason why I never spoke against him even during the period I was not formally a part of the NDA," said Chirag whose party was split by Paras two years ago. He also said, It was because of the beautiful

38 party NDA, brought to you by ED: AAP's Raghav Chadha takes swipe at BJP

Ahead of the National Democratic Alliance meeting here, the Aam Aadmi Party took potshots at the BJP on Tuesday, alleging that the ruling party's coalition partners have been brought together by the Enforcement Directorate. BJP president J P Nadda on Monday had said that 38 parties have confirmed their participation in the meeting of the NDA and slammed opposition leaders' unity efforts as a "selfish" exercise to protect themselves from action in cases of corruption worth over Rs 20 lakh crore. Brought to you by ED." LJP (Ram Vilas) joins NDA, Paswan confident of wining all 40 Bihar LS seats

Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) leader Chirag Paswan said on Tuesday that his party has joined the NDA following a positive discussion with the BJP over his "concerns" and asserted the ruling combine will win all 40 seats in Bihar in the 2024 Lok Sabha polls. While declining to share details of his talks with BJP leaders, including Home Minister Amit Shah and party president J P Nadda, he asserted that his concerns have been addressed positively by them. He, however, made it clear that his party will contest from Hajipur, a Lok Sabha seat currently represented by his estranged uncle and Union minister Pashupati Kumar Paras. His party will fight as part of the BJP-led NDA in the 2025 Bihar assembly polls as well. Paswan had earlier indicated that he expected the BJP to stick to the same seat-sharing arrangement as in 2019 when the undivided LJP had contested on six Lok Sabha seats and was given a Rajya Sabha seat as well.

BJP chief Nadda writes to Chirag Paswan to join NDA meeting on July 18

Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) leader Chirag Paswan is likely to attend the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance meeting on July 18 as the ruling party goes all out to put up a show of strength amid hectic efforts by the opposition to unite against the Modi government. Union minister Nityanand Rai met with Paswan on Friday night for the second time in a week, and the LJP(R) also shared a letter written by BJP president J P Nadda to the young leader, inviting him to attend the NDA meeting. Nadda described the regional party as a key constituent of the NDA and a key partner in the Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led government's push for the development and welfare of the poor. The BJP's outreach to Paswan, son of late stalwart Dalit leader Ram Vilas Paswan, underscores its push to bring him back into the NDA's fold after he walked out of the alliance in Bihar in the 2020 state assembly polls to campaign against Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, who was then the BJP's biggest ally. Toning up organisation in poll-bound states, NDA expansion on BJP's agenda

Senior BJP leaders have been brainstorming over organisational matters as the party looks to inject a sense of cohesion and purpose in poll-bound states like Madhya Pradesh and Telangana where factionalism has become an issue. Another issue on the party's agenda is the expansion of the ruling National Democratic Alliance, which has seen steady depletion in the recent years with traditional BJP allies like the Janata Dal (United) and Akali Dal leaving the grouping. The recent meeting between Telugu Desam Party, which had left the NDA in 2018, supremo N Chandrababu Naidu and Home Minister Amit Shah has sparked buzz about the revival of ties, something the Andhra Pradesh leader has been pursuing assiduously. An "expanded" NDA may meet soon, a BJP leader said. But it remains to be seen if the BJP will formally join hands with the TDP as it has also had good equations with the state's Chief Minister Jagan Mohan Reddy. An alliance between the two parties may push Reddy's YSR Congress int

Merging railway budget with Union budget 'major blunder' of NDA govt: Moily

In the wake of the Odisha railway tragedy, senior Congress leader M Veerappa Moily on Tuesday said the clubbing of the railway budget with the Union budget in 2017 was a "major blunder" of the NDA government and called for bringing back the practice of having separate budgets. Taking a swipe at the government, Moily said they are talking of bullet trains when the basics have not been rectified nor sufficient modernisation and technology has been put in place. "The clubbing of Railway Budget with the Union Budget has lost the focus on the railways. It is a major blunder committed by the NDA government. Mere focus on high-speed trains without taking into account safety and modernisation is a step in haste. It is necessary to go back to the Railway Budget," the former Union minister said in a statement. He also demanded that Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw should tender his resignation on moral grounds. Faster rail movement and vast network deserves sound operational ecosystem which
