Nagpur candidate chose Abu Dhabi centre via own login, changed later: NTA

Responding to the issue of allotment of a centre in Abu Dhabi to a candidate from Nagpur, the National Testing Agency (NTA) on Saturday said the city change request was made through the candidate's own registered login during the open correction window and it had later acted on his request to change the centre. Following the rescheduling of NEET (UG) 2026 to June 21, the examination-city correction window was reopened to assist candidates, the agency said. "Around 3.2 lakh candidates used the correction window, and NTA allotted the preferred examination city to over 99.5 per cent of them," it said in a post on X. On the "Abu Dhabi" query, the NTA said its web-activity records indicate that the city change in the case was made through the candidate's own registered login during the open correction window, with a consistent single-user access pattern. The agency said that despite the Abu Dhabi centre being chosen by the candidate, it received an informal request on the evening of Jun

Neet re-exam: Security tightened at 92 Kota centres; candidate count falls

Authorities have finalised elaborate security and administrative arrangements at 92 centres across Kota for the NEET UG re-examination to be held on June 21, officials said on Saturday. A total of 32,715 candidates have been issued admit cards for the examination, scheduled from 2 to 5.15 pm, a press release from the Kota public relations office said. The number of candidates in Kota has declined from 38,614 in the exam previously held on May 3. Experts attributed the drop partly to students opting for examination centres closer to their hometowns this time. The re-examination is taking place nearly seven weeks after the original test was cancelled following allegations of a paper leak that triggered nationwide outrage, political sparring and legal challenges. A coordination workshop was held here at the auditorium on Friday to review preparations for the national-level medical entrance examination. Stop gambling with students' future: Rahul slams govt on Neet centre mix-up

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Saturday lashed out at the Modi government after a NEET-UG aspirant from Nagpur was allotted a centre in Abu Dhabi for the re-exam, saying it should "stop gambling" with children's future. The family of the Nagpur NEET aspirant claimed that he was allocated a school in Abu Dhabi as his exam centre for the June 21 retest. The National Testing Agency (NTA) said the grievance is being addressed and the candidate will be allocated a centre in Nagpur, after due verification, in the next few hours. In a post in Hindi on X, Gandhi said, "A student from Nagpur had been preparing for the NEET re-exam for a month. He downloaded his admit card just a day before the exam. His assigned centre was in Abu Dhabi. He has no passport, his family lacks the funds to send him abroad, and there is no time left. He wept all night and is refusing to take the exam -- can one even imagine the level of stress involved?" "How did this even happen? No student should have to face

Neet UG re-exam: Delhi HC rejects Telegram's plea against temporary ban

The Delhi High Court on Friday upheld the Centre's move to temporarily restrict access to the Telegram messaging app ahead of the June 21 NEET-UG re-exam, holding the order was "not disproportionate". While pronouncing the judgement, a vacation bench of Justice Tejas Karia said the Centre's order was "least restrictive" and the government was empowered to direct blocking of access to Telegram. A detailed order is awaited. Telegram's counsel had questioned the legality of the government order blocking the platform. He had said that over 150 million users had been affected by the Centre's action. The National Testing Agency (NTA) had on May 12 cancelled the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (Undergraduate), or NEET-UG, held on May 3 for medical admissions amid allegations of paper leak. The CBI is investigating the matter and a re-test is scheduled on June 21. The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), acting on recommendations of the NTA, had issued a ...

The National Medical Commission has directed all medical colleges and institutions under its purview not to grant leave to students on June 20 and 21, except in exceptional circumstances, to support the fair conduct of the NEET-UG re-exam on Sunday.
