Retail sales of electric vehicles soar 185% to 111,971 units in Oct: FADA

The overall retail sales of electric vehicles (EVs), including passenger vehicles, in the country surged nearly 185 per cent year-on-year to 1,11,971 units in October, automobile dealers' body FADA said on Wednesday. EV sales stood at 39,329 units in October 2021. The total passenger EV sales rose 178 per cent to 3,745 units in October 2022 as against 1,346 PEVs retailed in the same month a year ago. Electric commercial vehicle sales grew 125.64 per cent to 274 units, as per the data released by the Federation of Automobile Dealers Association of India (FADA). Electric two-wheeler sales in October 2022 stood at 73,169 units as compared to 19,826 units in the same month of 2021, registering a year-on-year growth of 269.06 per cent. Electric three-wheeler sales jumped 92.87 per cent to 34,793 units as against 18,040 units in October 2021.

India's passenger vehicle exports up 2% in Q2, Maruti Suzuki leads: SIAM

Passenger vehicle exports from India increased 2 per cent in the second quarter, with Maruti Suzuki India leading the segment with dispatches of over 1.31 lakh units, as per the latest data by Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers. The total passenger vehicle (PV) exports stood at 1,60,590 units in the July-September period as compared with 1,57,551units in the same period a year ago. Passenger car shipments saw a 5 per cent dip at 97,300 units while utility vehicle exports rose 16 per cent at 63,016 units during the period under review, data by the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM) showed. Export of vans declined to 274 units in the September quarter as compared with 297 units in the same period last fiscal year. Maruti Suzuki India (MSI) led the segment during the period, followed by Hyundai Motor India and Kia India at the second and third positions, respectively. Passenger vehicle wholesales surge 92% in Sep on robust festive demand

Riding on the back of strong festive season demand, passenger vehicle wholesales in India increased 92 per cent to 3,07,389 units last month, as compared to the same month last year, auto industry body Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers said on Thursday. Passenger vehicle (PV) dispatches from factories to dealerships in September 2021 stood at 1,60,212 units. As per the latest data by the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM), two-wheeler sales also rose 13 per cent to 17,35,199 units, as compared to 15,37,604 vehicles in September 2021. Motorcycle sales rose 18 per cent to 11,14,667 units, as against 9,48,161 units in September 2021. Scooter sales were up 9 per cent to 5,72,919 units, from 5,27,779 vehicles a year ago. Hyundai Motor India expects semiconductor shortage issue to improve next year and emergence of a clear picture on the competitive scenario as it faces production constraints at present, according to a senior company official. The second largest passenger vehicle maker in the domestic market by volume has been facing stiff competition from homegrown manufacturers Tata Motors and Mahindra & Mahindra, which are riding high on their new SUV models. Besides, Maruti Suzuki India has also revved up its SUV plans with the launch of new Brezza and Grand Vitara. Leading up to the festive season, HMIL, the maker of popular SUVs, Creta and Venue is sitting on a backlog of 1.3 lakh pending orders.
