The Ajsu party Monday announced that Jharkhand Water Resources Minister and senior party leader Chandraprakash Choudhary would be its candidate for the Giridih Lok Sabha seat. Jharkhand has 14 Lok Sabha seats. The BJP has left Giridih seat to its NDA partner Ajsu party, which was earlier known as All Jharkhand Students Union. "Ajsu party leader Chandraprakash Choudhary will be the NDAs candidate from Giridih Lok Sabha seat," Ajsu party president and former deputy chief minister Sudesh Mahto said here. The BJP has already announced names of candidates in 10 Lok Sabha seats. The BJP Monday expelled one of its senior Lucknow-based leaders after he dubbed the party's top leadership as "Gujarati thugs" and asked if the BJP has chosen a 'pradhan mantri' (prime minister) or a prachar mantri (advertisement minister). The Supreme Court Monday refused to entertain a petition filed by a former DGP of Uttar Pradesh and an environmentalist seeking a direction to the Election Commission of India (ECI) to ban roadshows and bike rallies during polls. A surge in the number of ticket aspirants has forced the BJP to delay its second list of candidates for the remaining nine parliamentary seats in Rajasthan ahead of the Lok Sabha polls.
