Chandraprakash Choudhary to be Ajsu candidate for Giridih seat
The Ajsu party Monday announced that Jharkhand Water Resources Minister and senior party leader Chandraprakash Choudhary would be its candidate for the Giridih Lok Sabha seat. Jharkhand has 14 Lok Sabha seats. The BJP has left Giridih seat to its NDA partner Ajsu party, which was earlier known as All Jharkhand Students Union. "Ajsu party leader Chandraprakash Choudhary will be the NDAs candidate from Giridih Lok Sabha seat," Ajsu party president and former deputy chief minister Sudesh Mahto said here. The BJP has already announced names of candidates in 10 Lok Sabha seats. Both the NDA allies had contested separately in the 2014 Lok Sabha election and the BJP had won 12 out of the 14 seats in the state. Lok Sabha elections in Jharkhand will be held in four phases from April 29.
Senior UP BJP leader expelled for dubbing party's top leadership as 'Gujarati thugs'
The BJP Monday expelled one of its senior Lucknow-based leaders after he dubbed the party's top leadership as "Gujarati thugs" and asked if the BJP has chosen a 'pradhan mantri' (prime minister) or a prachar mantri (advertisement minister). While attacking the BJP's top leadership in a series of tweets, the party's former spokesperson I P Singh also hailed Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav's candidature from Azamgarh and offered him his residence for use as his poll campaign office. "I P Singh has been expelled from the party for six years on directions of the BJP state president," said a party release here. The expulsion followed after Singh attacked the BJP leadership in a series of tweets from his official Twitter account having a prefix "usuldaar" (principled) to his name. "I belong to a principled 'kshatriya' family. Two Gujarati thugs have been befooling Hindi-speaking people for the last five years after capturing the country's Hindi heartland, while we are silent," he said .

SC dismisses plea seeking ban on roadshows, bike rallies during elections
The Supreme Court Monday refused to entertain a petition filed by a former DGP of Uttar Pradesh and an environmentalist seeking a direction to the Election Commission of India (ECI) to ban roadshows and bike rallies during polls. "We are not inclined to entertain this," a bench of Chief Justice Ranjan Gogoi and Justice Deepak Gupta told advocate Virag Gupta, who was appearing for petitioners Vikram Singh and environmentalist Shaivika Agrawal. Singh, a former Director General of Police (DGP) of Uttar Pradesh, and Agrawal had said in their plea that roadshows and bike rallies violate the ECI's instructions and cause damage to the environment. The petitioners had said that roadshows and bike rallies during the election period cause air, noise pollution and traffic jams, which result in inconvenience to the general public. Surge in ticket seekers 'delaying' BJP's 2nd list in Rajasthan
A surge in the number of ticket aspirants has forced the BJP to delay its second list of candidates for the remaining nine parliamentary seats in Rajasthan ahead of the Lok Sabha polls. The party had in its first list on March 23 declared 16 candidates of the total 25 parliamentary seats, but is yet to declare its nominees for Churu, Barmer, Alwar, Bharatpur, Karauli-Dholpur, Rajsamand, Nagaur, Dausa and Banswara seats. According to the party, several candidates have staked their claim to contest the elections this time. Except Dausa and Alwar, the BJP has its sitting MPs on rest of the seven seats.
