Pakistan parliament passes resolution condemning 'violence' against Kashmiris

Pakistan's parliament on Monday unanimously passed a resolution condemning the alleged violence against people in Kashmir by the Indian security forces. The resolution was presented in the National Assembly, the lower house of the parliament, by Pakistan's Minister for Kashmir Affairs and Gilgit-Baltistan Ali Amin Gandapur. The house said in the resolution that Kashmir issue should be resolved in light of United Nations Security Council resolutions.

C'garh polls: BJP denies tickets to two MLAs in second list

The ruling BJP in Chhattisgarh Monday denied tickets to two sitting MLAs and nominated four candidates from an OBC community while releasing the second list of 11 contestants for the next month's polls. With the latest list, the party has so far announced nominees for 89 out of total 90 Assembly constituencies, which will go to polls in two phases on November 12 and November 20. Raipur (North) is the only constituency for which the name of BJP candidate is yet to be announced. The BJP denied tickets to sitting legislators Ramlal Chauhan from Saraipali and Rupkumari Chaudhary from Basna, as per the list issued by Jagat Prakash Nadda, Secretary, BJP Central Election Committee. Union ministers of BJP blaze campaign trail in Chhattisgarh

The campaigning for the next month's assembly elections in Chhattisgarh picked up Monday with four union ministers and a former chief minister canvassing for the ruling BJP in various parts of the state. Union Law Minister Ravishankar Prasad and his cabinet colleagues Smriti Irani, Uma Bharti, Ramkripal Yadav, and former Jharkhand chief minister Arjun Munda addressed public meetings in different constituencies that will go to polls during the first phase on November 12. Jharkhand CM flags off train carrying pilgrims to Puri

Jharkhand Chief Minister Raghubar Das Monday flagged off a train carrying elderly people on pilgrimage to Puri as part of a state government scheme. The Jharkhand government introduced the Mukhya Mantri Tirth Darshan Yozana in 2016 and over 5000 pilgrims have availed the scheme till now, an official release said quoting Das. "It is the duty of every son to take his parents on pilgrimage. I too am discharging my duty as the son of Jharkhand by sending elderly poor people on pilgrimage," Das said before flagging off the train from Hatia station here. One member of each family of the elderly person is accompanying them, he said. The chief minister said the state government will send poor people to Kumbhmela also on government expense.

Facing SAD's threat, Pb govt withdraws controversial History textbooks

Facing SAD's demand for an apology for "hurting" Sikhs' religious sentiments through the new class 12 history textbooks with derogatory references to the Sikh gurus, the Punjab government Monday withdrew the new books. Chief Minister Amarinder Singh directed the Punjab School Education Board to continue with the old, existing history textbooks for the academic year 2017-18 for Classes XI and XII, pending completion of their reviews by an expert group, said official spokesperson. The directive has been issued due to the need for clarity on the syllabus for students as they were almost in the middle of their academic year, he added. He said the government was fully committed to ensure that the students receive proper instructions in history. Bangladesh's ruling Awami League agrees to hold talks with opposition alliance

Bangladesh's ruling Awami League in a dramatic move on Monday agreed for unconditional talks with the newly-formed opposition National Unity Front (NUF) which includes the BNP of jailed prime minister Khaleda Zia over the upcoming general elections. Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader said that the NUF proposal came without any "precondition" and the party responded to the call as "the door of dialogue is open for all". AAP govt likely to approve Delhi Metro Phase-IV in next cabinet meeting: Official

The Delhi government is likely to give it's nod to the delayed Phase-IV of Metro rail as its Transport department has started work to prepare a note on the project that will be placed in the next cabinet meeting, a senior official said. The entire project of 104 km length was delayed by nearly two years. It was estimated to be completed by 2021 after Delhi government's in-principle approval in February 2016. But the Delhi Cabinet is yet to take a final decision on it. "Transport minister Kailash Gahlot has directed the department to put up a note on Phase-IV of Delhi Metro in next cabinet meeting," the senior Delhi government official said. Last week, Gahlot had told reporters that the government will soon give it's nod to Delhi Metro Phase-IV project. Empowering panchayats will boost development in villages in J&K: BJP

Ahead of the panchayat polls in Jammu and Kashmir, the BJP said Monday that empowering the local self-governance bodies will boost development in villages of the state. Panchayat elections in Jammu and Kashmir will be held in nine phases beginning November 17. "Empowerment of panchayats will ensure a boost to the development of villages in the state. We hope people of the state will vote in large numbers in these polls," BJP state general secretary Dr Narinder Singh told reporters here. The party also expresses its gratitude toward Jammu and Kashmir governor for amending the Panchayati Raj Act to empower the panchayats, he said. Cong seeks high-level probe into J&K health insurance 'bungling'

With Jammu and Kashmir Governor Satya Pal Malik cancelling the state's tie up with Reliance General Insurance for mandatory mediclaim facilities to the government employees and pensioner, the Congress Monday sought a high-level probe into the "bungling". J&K Congress chief Gulam Ahmed Mir also demanded a probe into the alleged "political appointments" on extraneous grounds in J&K Bank and other government services during the previous PDP-BJP regime. KIAL says permission for Shah's flight to land granted by it&

: Kannur International Airport Ltd Monday said it was KIAL and not the state government which granted landing permission to the chartered aircraft carrying BJP President Amit Shah at that city on October 27, ahead of its formal inauguration on December 9. The clarification came in the wake of the controversy which had erupted over the flight landing ahead of the inauguration date, with a Minister slamming Shah Sunday for threatening to oust the LDF government despite it allowing him to arrive there as part of state's 'tradition of hospitality.' A KIAL release Monday said that since Kannur airport had received license for operations of non-scheduled flights, it can allow any requests for landing of flights,though operation of scheduled flights would commence after December 6. KIAL said the requisite amount for landing of the flight has to be paid to the airport operator, the release said.
