Prime Minister Narendra Modi will begin his two-day visit to Jharkhand on Tuesday, during which he will undertake a roadshow and launch several projects. The PM will arrive at Birsa Munda Airport in the evening, where Governor C P Radhakrishnan and Chief Minister Hemant Soren will welcome him. From there, Modi will undertake a 10-km-long roadshow till Raj Bhavan, officials said. On Wednesday, he will launch a Rs 24,000 crore project aimed at the development of the Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Groups (PVTG) on the occasion of 'Janjatiya Gaurav Divas', they said. Modi will also launch the 'Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra', release the 15th instalment of Rs 18,000 crore under PM KISAN scheme, and inaugurate and lay the foundation of projects worth Rs 7,200 crore in the state. Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday flagged off a Vande Bharat Express, which will connect Ranchi to Patna, through video conferencing from Bhopal. This is the first Vande Bharat Express for both Bihar and Jharkhand. It was among five such trains that the prime minister flagged off from Rani Kamalapati railway station in Bhopal in Madhya Pradesh. The semi-high-speed train will start its regular run from June 28, and will depart Patna Junction at 7 am and reach Ranchi at 1 pm, covering a distance of 379 km in six hours. On the return journey, it will start at 4.15 pm from Ranchi and reach Patna Junction at 10.05 pm. The fastest train on the route at present is the Janshatabdi Express, which takes 7.45 hours to cover the same distance, officials said. Five urban health and wellness centres (UHWC) were inaugurated here on Thursday to ensure easy availability of primary healthcare facilities to residents of the city. Ranchi Municipal Corporation (RMC) administrator Shashi Ranjan launched a centre at Pahan Toli, while four others were inaugurated by the local RMC representatives. Ranjan said more such centres would come up here soon. As many as 24 UHWCs are proposed to be opened in Ranchi under recommendations of 15th finance commission, as official said. Availability of land appears to be a problem for the project. Five centres were started today, most of them in community building. Rest 19 will be opened very soon depending upon the availability of land, said RMC's additional administrator Kunwar Singh Pahan. The UHWC would be in addition to Atal Clinics. President Droupadi Murmu on Wednesday paid obeisance at the Baba Baidyanath temple in Jharkhand's Deoghar district. She performed special prayers at the temple, which is one of the 12 'jyotirlingas'. A team of priests assisted the president in performing the prayers amid tight security in the temple complex. Baidyanath Temple officials said Murmu performed a special puja in the temple amid the chanting of Vedic mantras by the priests. "President Draupadi Murmu arrived at Deoghar, the city of Gods. A gunfight took place between Naxals and security forces on the outskirts of Ranchi city, police said. Acting on a tip-off that five members of the banned Tritiya Sammelan Prastuti Committee (TSPC) outfit were in a forest in Budmu area, a search operation was launched around 3.30 pm on Thursday, they said. Soon, a gunfight broke out between the Naxals and the forces, they added. "However, the extremists escaped taking advantage of the dense forest," Superintendent of Police (Ranchi-Rural) Naushad Alam told PTI. A rifle and some cartridges were seized from the area, he said. Alam said they have received information that some of the extremists were injured in the gunfight. "We are verifying it," he said.
Apprehending that their protests against the Jharkhand government for accepting a proposal to use 1932 land records to determine who are local inhabitants might cause breach of peace, the Ranchi SDO's court has issued notices asking six people to appear before it on Monday. The six residents of Ranchi, to whom the notices were served under CrPC section 107, include Kailash Yadav who formed an organisation, Jharkhand Nav Nirman Manch (JNNM), to protest against the decision of the state Cabinet. "Our lawyer appeared before the court of SDO today. We pleaded to submit our reply on September 22, which was accepted," Yadav told PTI.
